You never really know what you got until you havent got it anymore right?
That was certainly the case as I sat on the bed in the spare bedroom of Paul and Lyla's semi-detached house with my knees up to my chest and my rainbow cardigan on with nothing to do. 'Just relax' Lyla said when I complained of being restless after being there for a literal hour 'let the stress of Oasis and the tour melt away'. Fucking fat load of help she was.

It was the next afternoon, I hadnt even been here 24 hours and I was already bored out my skull. I managed to get up and drag myself down the stairs. "Alright?" Paul asks from behind a newspaper as I walk into the kitchen "sleep well?".

"Barely" I reply "been sittin' up there bored out me mind, Rkid".

"Take Eliza to the park for a walk or something then".

"The park? Shes aint a fuckin' dog, y'know?".

"No but since she started walking a month ago she likes to stand and watch the ducks" he replies, putting emphasis on 'a month ago' like I was supposed to be there or something. Its not my fault I had other priorities.

"Well I've got hayfever so I aint goin'. Speaking of where are Elizabeth and Lyla?" I ask.

"Elizabeth's in her play pen watching tv and Lyla's in the garden sunbathing before the sun moves to the other side of the house" he replies.

"Right, thanks" I mutter and walk off in the direction of the livingroom to go out the back door. I wave to eliza as I pass and say hello but shes too focused on the television to notice me, so I stroke the dog (my dog Matilda the german shepherd) on the head a little and just go out the back door and sit on a vacant chair at the metal chair and glass table garden furniture thing they have. y'know the ones that come with an umbrella in the table that never fucking stays straight? I mean those, I hope you get what I mean because I cant describe it better than that. Lyla is on a white and blue deck chair (unrelated to the furniture im on), sunbathing and listening to a tape in her walkman.

I leant forward and pinched her lightly. "Oi" I smile "you listening to Morning Glory?".

"Yeah killer album to be honest love" she smiles.

"I wanna go back on tour".

"You cant do that, Jess, come on you know that" she replies "have you taken your meds today?".

"Yes" I reply "fuck sake, I was before I missed two. Now everyone thinks i'm losin' me mind again".

"We only care about you, hun, at least you aint back in the psych ward" she replies "why dont you spend some time with Eliza?".

"She seemed more interested in the telly than me" I comment passively.

"Go see alfie? Hes only a twenty minute car ride away, you can go collect your merc that your dad left you off him" she replies.

"I want the merc but not yet".

"Go and see david?" She asks.

"Bowie?" I reply "is he in town?".
She nods. "Violet said summat about him surprisin' me at southend but then my dad died so it was cancelled".

"Go and see him, I'm sure he'll be pleased to see you".

"Where is he?" I ask.

"He usually stays at his mother's house down in brixton, just get the northern line straight down there".

"His mother's? I thought he had his own place?".

"He does, hers, she's eighty-four they put her in a care home a while back" she replies.
