Sunny seemed so excited for the job interview, she dressed nice for it and everything. She really had no need because with my recommendation, she was bound to get it anyway. Not that she couldnt do it herself.
Chelsea was standing outside of my old office when we got out the lift, she looked like she hadn't aged a day since the last time I saw her, except for the power suit she was wearing, that was a new thing.
We hugged and she smiled.
"How are you? Its been so long"."I'm great thanks" I smile.
"And who's this?" She sticks her hand out for Sunny to shake.
"This here is my niece Sarah-Lynn Jones, she prefferably likes to be called Sunny though" I put my hand on sunny's shoulder "Sunny this is Chelsea Harding, she used to be my PA until she took over my job when I left in 1995".
Sunny shakes her hand "nice to meet you Mrs. Harding".
"Its actually Mrs. Turner now" she corrects "but neither of you would have known that. Nice to meet you too, Sunny. Would you like to come in for interview?". Sunny nods. "If you could just sit on the chair there until we are done, that'd be great" she tells me. I nod and take a seat whilst they go into the office. So strange being back. I looked at the door.
'Mrs. Chelsea Turner, Deputy Journalist" it said on the gold plaque.Sunny took ages to come out. I was starting to get convinced ninjas had broken in, assassinated them and left without a trace. When she eventually did she looked happy but I didnt ask as there was no time, Chelsea wanted to do my interview. Sunny was allowed to sit in if she was quiet the whole time, she went and at out on the conservatory thing and looked at the view of london instead or played snake on her Nokia or something. Whatever teenagers do these days.
Chelsea switched on the dictorphone, a modern upgrade to the one I have always used, that I still use when I feel like taking notes but not writing.
"NME Featured Article by Chelsea Turner to be released January 7th 1998. Today is Monday 29th of December 1997.
Here with me I have the lovely Jessica Gallagher, formerly Hamilton, who used to be my boss and head journalist at NME. She is now married to national superstar Noel Gallagher of oasis. So really my first question is, what's it like being married to the Noel Gallagher?".I couldnt exactly tell her that Noel and I had barely uttered a word to eachother except the occasional tea/coffee?, dinner's ready, cold out there? And good morning/night. He stayed up in the attic studio out my way and I stayed in the spare bedrooms redecorating (the far one is to be pink princess for Eliza so thats what I'm doing. I fake smiled and lied through my teeth.
"Bein' married to Noel is fantastic really. See we grew up together and we know everything about eachother. The Noel the world knows and the Noelie I know are two completely different people. To the world hes this spokesman for the unemployed population of lads and teens that are angry with the world today, hes seen as being boisterious and larger than life, not really giving a fuck really.
But the Noel I know is well, the opposite. He does nothing but care about me, especially since... well"."It must he hard for you. they say you missed Knebworth, gig of the century, have you seen it?".
"Yes, Guigsy, the band's bassist, hes like my brother I never had, he taped me my own copy complete with the band sending me a message backstage and everything. I actually saw Pink Floyd at Knebworth in 1975, when I was seven years old, with my dad. So it wasnt like Ive never been to the place before".
"Are you a Pink Floyd fan?".
"They're alright, I met David Gilmour at a charity function with Oasis once. Alright geezer, really patient".
"So I know you want to avoid it as we have worked together for many years, but lets talk about the accident. The world want to know you're ok. They havent really heard much since you came out of hospital except that you were seen at your father's funeral, I'm sorry for your loss by the way, he was lovely".
