The funeral was boring, not much was happening, quite frankly I wanted to leave before the wake but my mother told me to not be so disrespectful.
Graham, Cassandra and Allison were there, I guess they had to be.
Cassandra insisted on talking to my mother like she wasnt the woman my father was cheating on her with all those years ago.
"I'm so sorry for your loss, Cass, it must be hard" my mother says, trying to be nice "Alice must be devestated, poor thing".

I stood watching them with Eliza in my arms, not really paying attention.
"Yeah" Cass says, getting distracted by me. "Oh my gosh, is that your daughter?".

"Yes" I roll my eyes subtly.

"She does proper look like your boyfriend doesnt she? How old is she now?" She asks.

"Um actually we're married and she's one in about two weeks" I reply "august 25th".

"When did you get married? Congrats".

"We went up the registry ages ago, I want a proper wedding like, but its so much fuckin' work" I reply quickly.

Alfie bangs a spoon on a glass to get peoples attention. "Hi everyone, thank you for coming to this wonderful service, its now time for the reading of the will as cassandra insisted on doing it here, please take your seats". We all take our seats, it was a hall that had been hired out to have the wake in. Suddenly Cass seems excited, like she knows something.
Alfie grabs the documents and reads the first few lines about he is our father's personal representative and stuff, its really boring.
"Disposition of property and money" he says, causing everyone to perk up.
"To my good friend and butler, Graham Finch. I give you my dog, Bentley and the country house in sommerset, look after her please.

To my daughter, Alice, I give you half of my fourtune and the house that we lived in, along with the house in New York and my BMW.

To my other beautiful daughter, Jessica, I give a quarter of my fourtune" alfie says then stops for a second. "I'm not going to read out the numbers he has put down for the money as it not fair on others" he says with a sigh "continuing, I also give you my blue 1979 Mercedes Benz, you always loved that car.

To my son, Alfie, I give you the rest of my fourtune, the rest of my classic car collection and our holiday Villa in St. Tropez, france as you always liked going there as a child.

To my beautiful ex-wife and the love of my life, Angela, I give you my Grandmother's engagement ring from when I proposed to you, I'm sorry for taking it back, along with half of the shares in my business.

And finally, to Edward Kinderton, my wonderful business partner, I give you the other half in the shares of the business and complete ownership. I trust the both of you will make the right decision". Alfie stares into the distance for a second. We all just kind of look down and then everyone looks at Cassandra.

"What are you all staring at?" She asks us all.

"Dad left you out of the will?" Alice asks "why?". She looks shocked, Alfie just grins, like he knows something.

"I'll tell you why, Allison" he says and walks a bit closer to her "you only married him to do him out of his money didnt you".

"Thats not true" she says "dont be so preposterous". But she was getting red in the face.

"Go on tell the lovely people what happened".

"Please dont do this" she says and looks at the floor.

"Tell them".

She wont look up, my mother stands up. "Alice is my daughter" she says loudly.

We all look at her except alfie, he knew all along. "What?" Everyone says.
