"I'll make us some coffee." He said as he walked into his kitchen.
"Thanks, I'll set everything up." I replied as I began placing all the snacks we bought at the local store on his table.
I looked around his apartment, wishing I had freedom like this.
"You could still move in, you know." He said quietly as he walked into the living room and glanced at me.
I smiled weakly, "I know. You know I'd love to."
He half smiled, "I guess I actually have to go out and look for roommates later this month."
"Did you have anyone in mind?" I asked.
"Yeah, well besides you, there is this couple I know actually. They were looking for a place. I might call them tomorrow. They aren't necessarily my first choice because I'd be a third wheel in my own apartment." He laughed awkwardly as he scratched the back of his neck.
"They wouldn't be my first choice either." I let out a small laugh, "I'd hate to be a third wheel in the place that I live." I replied.
He smiled weakly and rubbed his face.
"Are you tired?" I asked as I raised an eyebrow.
"Not at all." He let out a small chuckle, but yawned only a few seconds later.
I yawned as well, and we both let out a laugh.
"Why the hell are yawns contagious?" He asked.
I shrugged, "I wouldn't know, I just know they are."
The kettle began to whistle and he sighed as he got up, "Extra shot of expresso?" He asked.
I nodded and smiled, I want to stay up all night.
A few moments later he brought in two mugs of coffee and handed me one.
"Thank you." I smiled as I wrapped my hands around the mug.
"No problem." He smiled as he sat down on the couch.
"So I was thinking that tomorrow we could go-" I was cut off by the sound of my phone ringing.
I looked over and saw that it was my mom. Shit, please don't come home tonight.
"Oh, geez, good luck." Nick laughed, realizing who it was.
I winced as I picked up my phone, "Hey, mom."
"Hey, sweetheart. How are you?" My mom's soft voice came through the speaker.
"I'm good, you?" I asked as I bit the side of my lip.
"I'm good, we are actually coming home later tonight. We are taking the later flight and we will be in the airport around 1 AM." She explained, I could hear her exhaustion.
My heart sunk a little, "That's great, mom. Uh- do you and dad need a ride home?" I asked as I bit the corner of my lip.
"That would be great, Hal. Are you sure it's not a problem?" She asked.
"No, not at all." I glanced to Nick, who looked amused and disappointed.
"Okay, thank you. Well, we are actually just about to board the airplane. Tell your brother to not to ignore my calls. He didn't answer them." She explained, I could hear my dad rushing her in the background.
"Okay, yeah. I'll tell him." I replied.
"I'll see you soon, hun. I'll call you when we land."
"Okay, bye. Have a safe flight." I said before she thanked me and hung up.
