I sighed as I arrived at the apartments. I usually would go to the second floor to see Nick, but instead here I was about to go with Mitch. It felt like I was betraying Nick.

My heart stung, it took a lot within me not to go running over to his door and ask for forgiveness. But reality stopped me, I couldn't be sorry for falling in love with him. The fact that he thought such a thing of me hurt me.

You called him yesterday and he didn't pick up. That's not on me. I showed that I wanted communication with him.

I walked up to Mitch's door and knocked. Within moments I saw him appear through the screen door and he smiled, "You made it."

"Yeah." I laughed weakly as he opened his door and lead me into his apartment.

I slightly frowned, it felt like I was in an alternate version of Nick's apartment. The layout of the apartment was the exact same, the only real difference was the furniture.

"So this is my girlfriend Mandi," Mitch said as she came through the hallway, "and Mandi this is my friend Hal."

We both smiled at each other, "How are you feeling?" She asked.

I blinked a few times until I realized she must have known I was in the hospital, "I'm doing much better, thank you."

"I'm glad. Did they find out what had happened to you?" She asked as she went over to the fridge.

"Yeah, I went into anaphylactic shock because of some sesame seeds." I laughed awkwardly.

"You're allergic?" She asked as she furrowed her eyebrows.

"No, it just reacted with some medication." I lied, I didn't want to give them the whole story.

"Ah." She said as she nodded. She pulled out three Cokes and gave one to me and gave another to Mitch.

"Thank you." I smiled.

"I'm so glad you two are getting along." Mitch teased.

"You thought we weren't?" She teased back as I let out a laugh.

"Anyway," he started off, "to get your mind off of that trashy guy friend of yours, I invited one of my other friends to come over later, is that cool with you?" He asked.

I bit my lip slightly, I really had no intention of getting to meet another guy right now. I only really wanted to fix my friendship with Nick. I hated not being able to talk to him, and the tension I felt with him was quickly driving me insane.

"I'm sure you'll like him, he really is a good guy. Don't worry, he isn't looking for a relationship either. I just want him to feel better after he got rejected by a girl. I know you two would be good friends."

I sighed, "Okay."

Was it Nick? Did he get rejected by that classmate girl he was talking about? No, it can't be that big of a coincidence, but they do live in the same apartment.

I internally groaned in frustration.

"Did you eat yet?" Mindi asked.

"Did you guys eat?" I asked. I always disliked being the first to answer because I didn't like for people to go out of there way to do something for me.

"Nah, we were gonna wait and see if you wanted to come and eat with us. We can order take out if you want." Mitch said as he took a sip from his coke.

I smiled weakly, "That seems like a pretty good idea, I'm okay with anything honestly. I love everything when it comes to food."

Mitch smiled and nodded once and he looked over to Mandi, "What about you, babe? Any preference?"
