Nickolas's point of view

It was getting late and I glanced down at my phone to see if I had missed any messages or phone calls from Hailey. Why hasn't she called me yet? Is she on her way?

I impatiently bounced my leg and sighed as I looked up at my door, half expecting her to walk in. Hunger started settling into my stomach and I began to crave the burritos that the diner by my house had.

I picked my phone up, should I call her?

I groaned, I didn't want to seem desperate; but, I didn't want to seem like I didn't care. What do I do?

I dialed her number but she didn't pick up. I frowned and sent her a text.

'Hey, Hal. Are you on your way? Are we still going to the diner?'

I put my phone down and decided to play a movie while I waited for her text back. I randomly selected a movie, not caring what it was. Earlier this morning she seemed okay! I talked to her and we both planned on going to the diner. Why is this bothering me so much?

About halfway through the movie, I found myself not being able to focus on it because I was still waiting for her response. What is going on? She rarely canceled on me.

I looked up at the time and figured she was not going to come. I sighed not knowing what to do now. I scrolled through my contacts and decided to text my friend.

'Hey, wanna come over?" I sent the text. As I was about to place my phone down on the table, my phone vibrated. How could he respond that quickly?

'Sure! I'll be there in a quickie!'

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion, Harold never texted like that. I opened up the conversation, and realized that I had accidentally sent the text to Sheri.

"Shit!" I rolled my eyes and groaned, how could I have been so stupid! I ran my hands through my hair as I groaned What if Hailey finds out? I had no desire to hang out with Sheri after what she did to Hailey. What Sheri did made Hailey cry, and seeing her cry was one of the worst things that I could see. Seeing her cry made me physically pain.

I was startled by a knock on my door. That can't be Sheri, can it?

I walked up to the door and saw Sheri smiling weakly at me as she gave me a small wave.

"Uh- hey Sheri." I half smiled, how did you get here so quickly?

"Hey, can I come in?" She raised an eyebrow and laughed.

I moved over to the side a bit and motioned her into my apartment, you're the last person I want here.

"So, how have you been?" She asked as she sat down on my couch and crossed her legs.

"Good, I guess." I mumbled as I sat down on the couch opposite of where she was at, "You?"

"Good." She smiled, "Sorry for getting here so quickly. I was actually on my way to come and see you."

I smiled weakly, "That's okay." Why did you want to come and see me?

She pierced her lips together, forming a thin line before she sighed, "Have you talked to Hailey?"
