"I have a delivery for three pizzas." I joked as Hal opened the door.
She smiled as she raised an eyebrow, "I think you have the wrong house, I did not order any pizza."
"I guess I'll just take these back then." I said as I pretended to walk away.
She laughed as she pulled me into the house by my arm and I leaned in and pecked her lips. My heart raced once again. As we pulled away we stared at each other for a few moments before she looked away, "So, I didn't know which sodas to get so I just bought like three different flavors."
I smiled at the fact she was embarrassed, granted I was as well.
" You know I love every soda so I'm guessing you were the indecisive one?" I teased.
"Aren't I always?" She laughed.
I smiled.
"Aye, Nickolas, nice to have you back." Jackson said as he came out of his bedroom.
"Nice to be back on you're good side." I laughed, secretly being honest.
"It was nice to know everything was just one big misunderstanding." He said as he came by to greet me.
I nodded, "You're telling me. I hate having tension between Hal and I," I admitted, "Besides, you would have probably killed me."
I caught a side glimpse of Hailey and she smiled to herself and looked down. She knew that I hated arguing as much as she did.
Jackson nodded, "I hate seeing her upset." He said rather quietly.
I nodded, "I do too."
"So, Nick, do you mind if Jack has some pizza?" Hal said tearing us from our conversation.
"No, I don't mind. Take as much as you want Jackson, I brought enough for all of us to basically have a box each." I laughed as I motioned to Hailey who was beginning to open up the boxes.
"Thank you." Jackson said as he gave me a honest smile. I could not tell if he was thanking me for the pizza or for what I said about Hailey.
I nodded once and replied with a small smile.
"I'll be in my room if you two anything. Please don't need anything." He teased.
Hailey let out a laugh, "You'd be the last person I ask for help."
"Ouch." He said as he playfully rubbed his chest.
Once he disappeared into his room Hailey's attention turned towards me, "Pepperoni? Or pineapple?"
"Both please," I replied as I went into her cabinet and picked out a few bags of chips, "Doritos or Cheetos?" I asked.
"Cheetos." She smiled.
I handed her the bag of Cheetos as she handed me a plate with my pizza.
"So anything dramatic happened since I last saw you?" I asked, not knowing what to say.
"I saw the new episode of The Bachelor." Her eyes widened. I could tell she wanted to talk about it.
"And? Any drama going on?" I laughed about how excited she got over the smallest things.
"So apparently Zeke already had a girlfriend. He just wanted to get on the bachelor so he could get his modeling career started. And to think that Bethany really liked him!" Her eyes lit up as she was talking about the drama on the show. I was not necessarily interested in the show; but, I was interested in the way she talked about it. It captivated me.
"I should give a fair warning, my gender is pretty horrible." I laughed.
Hailey laughed, "Agreed."
We stared at each other for a moment. She bit the inside of her lip. I leaned it slightly, trying to see if Hailey would flinch, but she didn't. I leaned in to quickly pecked her lips. She smiled as her cheeks became a rose colored.
"I don't think all men are that bad." She added slowly as she continued to look at me.
"Let's hope it stays that way." I added, hinting to Hailey that I never wanted her to think bad of me.
We both ate our pizza in mostly silence. It did not bother us though- at least it did not bother me. It was never an awkward silence, it was peaceful.
"Anything dramatic happen since you last saw me?" Hailey asked me.
"What? No. Why?" I asked as I looked over to her. Did she know?
She raised an eyebrow and then eyed me suspiciously, "No reason? You asked me that question a while ago. Why do you look like that?"
"Like what?" I tried to sound as normal as possible. Idiot!
"What happened?" She asked, "You had that worried look when I asked you."
I shook my head, "Nothing."
She nodded slowly, "You can tell me later. if you want."
I sighed, there was no way around it. She knew me as well as I knew her, "It's about Sheri."
Her eyes widened slightly as she stopped eating, "What about her?" She asked, I could tell there was a hint of worry.
"She came to my apartment earlier." I studied her facial features, trying to figure her out.
She nodded slowly, "Oh. And?"
"We argued." I sighed as I rubbed the back of my neck.
She furrowed her eyebrows, "Why?"
I held in my breath, debating what part of the argument I should talk about, "She wants to be friends with us."
She was quiet for a few moments, "Do you want to be her friend?"
I shook my head, "No. Not after what she did to you," she smiled so slightly I could have missed it if I was not paying attention to her, "You don't understand, Hal. What hurts you, hurts me. Even if you suddenly wanted to be friends with her, I would still be the one that would not want to be her friend. I am absolutely done with her. What she did was beyond disgusting."
She wrapped her arms around me as soon as I finished, "Thank you." she spoke quietly. I instinctively wrapped my arms around hers and placed my hand on the back of her head.
"You don't need to thank me, Hal." I spoke quietly into the crook of her neck.
"Too close." Jackson mumbled as he walked past us and into the kitchen.
I felt Hailey tense and we both released each other from the hug and stared at him.
"Jack!" Hailey half shouted. I couldn't tell if it was annoyance or embarrassment.
I looked over to Jackson who was picking out another slice of pizza, "Chill, I'm joking." He laughed as he rolled his eyes.
Hailey glared and Jackson glared back but smirked before he walked back into his bedroom.
"Sorry about him." She smiled as she rolled his eyes.
"I respect it." I let out a chuckle.
After a few moments she sighed, "Why did you guys argue though? Like what caused it?"
"Something stupid. You know how Sheri is." I said as I reached over for my plate of pizza.
She nodded slowly, "Yeah."
"Anyway, on a lighter note, I was thinking going to the beach later. It would be nice if you came." I said as I took a bite of my pizza.
"Sounds fun. Tonight? Or when?" She asked as she ate her pizza.
"Later tonight. Maybe a bonfire?"
She nodded and smiled, "With s'mores?"
I smiled widely, "You're such a kid."
