Nickolas' POV

We pulled back into the library parking lot and she rest her head against the headrest. She slightly bit her lip but didn't turn to  face me.

"What are you thinking  about?" I wrapped my fingers around hers.

"Nothing." she smiled weakly.

"Are you sure you are feeling better?" I asked, referring to her hospitalization.

She nodded, "A little sore and tired, but nothing I can't handle." She smiled weakly.

"Again, I'm so sorry I did not visit you." I squeezed her hand and she responded by squeezing mine back.

"Nick, it's okay. It was just a horrible coincidence that Mitch called you while I was trying to call you."

I shook my head, "No. It's my fault because you're first reaction should have been to text me or call me again- not think that I was ignoring you. I cannot apologize enough for all the times that I have cancelled on you and all. I am terribly sorry."

Her eyes glossed over slightly- I could tell that she was still hurt but she did not want to admit it. She remained quiet, silently agreeing with my statement; and, that hit me like a truck.

"I'm sorry." I repeated again like what felt like the thousandth time today.

"It's okay- really." She smiled weakly.

We remained silent for a few moments but I broke the silence, "Are you busy later?" I asked. My voice broke and I felt my heart race.

She shook her head, "You?"

I shook my head, "Can we hang out? I can go over or you can come to mine."

She smiled weakly, "You can come to mine."

I nodded and broke into a smile, "I'll bring the pizza this time."

"I'll have the sodas." She smiled as she glanced between me and her hands.

"Try not to fall asleep this time." I teased.

She broke into her real smile, causing my heart to flutter, "Sorry, but I cannot promise that."

**

I was listening to a random television show as I was getting ready to go and pick up a few pizzas. I smiled eagerly as I thought of Hailey as my girlfriend. Never in a million years did I think it was going to happen. I love her so damn much.

A knock at my door ripped me out of my thoughts. I smiled as I was expecting to see Mitchell; but, quickly frowned to see Sheri.

"Hello." She smiled excitedly.

"Uh, hi." I said making it sound more like a question than a greeting.

"I wanted to invite you along for some burritos." She smiled as she motioned for me to come with her.

I blinked a few times, not knowing how to respond, "I'm not hungry, actually."

"You? Not hungry? Am I talking to the right Nick?" She laughed as she rolled her eyes as she playfully moved me aside so she could walk into my apartment, "I need to look for the real Nickolas."

I moved aside and scratched the back of my neck, How do I tell her to get out of my house?

She sat down on my couch and took a sip from the Sprite that was in the cup holder, "So?"

I furrowed my eyebrows why are you drinking my soda? "So what?"

"Dude you seem a bit annoyed. Did you get in an argument or something?" She asked as she leaned back and laughed, expecting me to say no, "You needa chill bro."
