As I lay in bed, my one eye facing the window remains closed, while leaving my other eye opened, waiting for him to arrive. I don't know who he is, or what he is, and I'm curious as to why he watches me. This is something I have been doing every night for the last eighteen years. I know he visits me while I'm sleeping, watching me outside my bedroom window. I can feel him, sense him, and smell him.
He appears in my dreams, he looks fearless, mysterious, intriguing and darkly sexy. His hair is as dark as molasses, and at times I see his eyes appearing to be red in color, but then I see them being blue as a clear blue sky. Wherever I am, I can feel him watching me, I want to meet him, touch him, and talk to him.. I want to know who he is, and why he comes to see me.
When I was five years old, my parents moved us to Crowburg, Rhode Island. And that's when this all began.... I had dreams I was being chased through a cold, dark forest. From what I could see or remember, they have no face. I could see them covered in blood, and holding something in their hand. With the deep fog, and darkness, it's hard to tell what it is. Each time they got closer to me, I would wake up gasping for air while looking around me, realizing it was only a dream.
Many nights I dreamt the same dream, each time I would wake up during the chase, but one night I didn't. I was scared, running as fast as I could, trying to get away from who was chasing me.
It felt like I was running, my legs were moving, but as I looked around me in fear, I wasn't moving anywhere. It felt like I was being held up against an invisible wall, screaming as they were getting closer and closer. Out of nowhere something came through the woods, picking me up from behind, and flying me to safety, my home.
I turned around to thank whoever it was, and just like that, they were gone. I woke up feeling relieved that it was only a dream. I didn't know why I was having those dreams, and whenever I said something to my parents, they brushed it off saying it was only a dream.... But was it?
For eighteen years I tried to understand my dreams, the only thing I knew was that the dreams began once we moved to Crowburg. There were rumors when I was in school that this town was haunted and surrounded by vampires, but nobody could ever prove it. It was all hearsay, and nobody actually ever saw one.
People disappeared all the time from here, some were found alive and disoriented, some were found murdered and left in shallow graves, and some of them have never been found.
I finally closed my eyes, and drifted off into a deep sleep, hoping to have a different dream, and I did. I was at a farm with friends, we were drinking and talking while sitting around a bonfire. We heard some screams from afar, I turned around and saw the person without a face standing at the edge of a corn field, watching us.
I felt my face turn pale and my heart quickly began to race, it felt like it was pounding so hard that I thought it was going to explode from my chest. I dropped the drink from my hand, and stood up screaming as I took off running, running as fast as I could into nowhere. As I ran, I kept turning around to see if it was coming after me and it was, I ran for what seemed like forever, I was out of air and had to stop to take a breather.
I bent over, holding my hand to my chest and was quickly taking in some deep breaths until I heard the sounds of leaves and branches crackling from someone walking closer to me. I looked around, saw nothing and took off running anyway, until I found a run down shed and ran to it trying to get inside, that's when I felt him near. I stopped and turned around to see if it was him, the one who was always there to save me.
There he was, the mysterious man I had been longing to meet.. I froze to study him, I knew it was him by his powerful eyes, and his gracious demeanor. "It's you.."
It's a short prologue, but just so you know, all chapters will not be this short!😉😉
I just wanted you to see how this all began, and how she meets this person she falls for.
