The house was on fire, Layla and Sebastian were lying on the ground knocked out from the explosion. Alaric panicked and quickly checked on Layla, making sure she was alright.
He kneeled on the ground, picked her up, and held her in his arms, talking to her while looking over at Sebastian. He saw Sebastian moving around and figured he was alright, but it was Layla he was worried about. She had no signs of movement and remained out cold.
Sebastian stood up, and looked over towards Alaric and Layla. His heart dropped when he saw Alaric rocking her, asking her to wake up. He ran over to them, pulled her out of Alaric's arms, and laid her on the ground.
Sebastian looked at Alaric, insisting he go find the others while he worked on Layla. "No, I want to stay right here with her, I need to make sure she's alright." Alaric said in a panic.
"Go... I've got this..."
Alaric ran his fingers through his hair, then placed them on his hips. He looked down at Layla, took a deep breath and leaned his head back, praying she was OK. He didn't want to leave her, but knew she would be in good hands with Sebastian.
"Make sure that bastard didn't get away." Sebastian called out when Alaric started walking away. He stopped, turned around and questioned Sebastian "Are you sure I can't kill the fucker myself?"
"The curse was, she had to be the one... don't worry, I'll bring her back and she'll be able to get him once and for all."
Alaric felt frustrated and groaned, he wanted to be the one to kill Mason for hurting Layla. With pain in his eyes, he looked at Sebastian "Are you sure she'll be alright?"
"Yes! Now go!" he insisted. He turned, held his hands over Layla, and began moving them from her head down to her feet as he spoke. He checked his pocket making sure the bottle he grabbed from his room wasn't damaged, and pulled it out. He popped the cork, reached his arm underneath her, lifted her and placed the bottle at her lips. "Come on Layla, drink this." he urged quietly.
He heard a noise and turned his head to see what the noise was. As he scanned the area, he saw a cat prowling the area, and turned back towards Layla. He saw her crossbow a few feet from her, and figured he better grab it in case Mason came back.
Alaric searched for any survivors and came across an injured Adrian laying on the ground and ran over to him "Are you alright?"
Adrian moaned in pain "I'll be alright, that was one strong blast."
"Where's Angeline?"
"I'm right here." Angeline said as she approached her brothers.
Alaric stood up and let out a sigh of relief "Glad you're OK..." He looked around and didn't see Alyssa or Alex and lowered his head. He knew if something happened to Layla's friends she would lose it. That is if she was alright herself. He felt he was going to break down, and with his head hung low he told them about Layla, and that Sebastian was working with her as they spoke. "Being that I don't see the other two, I take it they didn't survive?"
Angeline walked over to Alaric, wrapped her arm around him and smiled "I was able to get Alyssa out, and got her to an area that I knew was safe. As for Alex, I'm not sure... Adrian was working on breaking him free before the house exploded."
"I got him out just as the house exploded." Adrian said, trying to sit himself up. He sat up, slowly turned his body and saw Alex across the way laying near the corn field. "He's over there." he pointed "Alaric, make sure he's alright."
Angeline helped Adrian up and gave him a hug "Glad you're alright, I thought for sure you were in the house when it exploded."
He chuckled a little "It was close, I had just stepped out when it happened, had me flying in the air." He saw Alaric walking Alex over their way and smiled. He didn't think he would have survived the explosion and was relieved to see Layla didn't lose her friends. "That's a relief." He limped a little as he walked towards Alaric, and shook his head "Now we need to find that bastard..."
