Alaric shook his head while reading what she handed him. He understood why she was feeling the way she was, but this was something he was unaware about, and the only other person who he thought would have known, would be his father. "I'm sorry Layla, I didn't know this, this is all news to me."

He set the paperwork down, and took a deep breath. He didn't know what else to say, and felt bad after seeing the look on her face. She had a look on her face like someone who just lost their best friend. "I wonder what else they hid from me?" she asked, choked up while wiping tears away from her eyes "This just shows that I don't even know who I am... or shall I say what I am."

Alaric pulled a chair over to him, and sat down "Layla, I'm sure they kept it a secret for a reason, and loved you as if you were their own... in fact, I know they loved you. I saw it with my own eyes... and to tell you the truth, I was around more than you realize."

She looked at him not surprised, she had a feeling he was always near, and could feel him everywhere she was. With him telling her this, only confirmed all her suspicions, and knew she wasn't going crazy. "I thought so." she said quietly, she looked at the papers and pointed "Finding this, only gives me more questions about who I am..." She picked up the paperwork, looked it over again and looked at Alaric as she set the papers back down "You know, the other day I found some old albums hidden in my parents' closet, and glanced through them. I have no idea whose they are, or who they are. According to these papers, I wasn't born where I thought I was... it was here. So, now I'm curious, I wonder if I'm related to them in some way."

"Is this your way of asking me to look at them, and to see if I know who any of them are?"

A small smile formed on her face, she was now more determined than ever to know who she was, and had a strong feeling he would be able to help her. She stood up, walked around the desk and sat down on his lap, straddling him "Could you? I'm not even sure if they're related to me, but being they're old pictures, and since you've been around a long time, I was thinking maybe you might know who they are?"

"Where are they?"

"On the table in the dining room." She got off his lap and helped him up. As she was walking out of the room, Alaric twirled her around, and cupped the sides of her face. "I want you to know I'll do whatever I can to help you, you mean a lot to me, and I hate seeing you feeling the way you do right now."

"I know, I just would like to know more about who I really am, and why these fucking treachers are after me."

"If I could tell you, I would... but unfortunately, I can't. He pulled her in for a kiss, and smiled as he pulled away "I do like you..." he winked.

"You mean, you love me." she smiled.

Not knowing what to say, he smiled and kissed her forehead "Let's go look at those albums."

Alaric sat at the table, and pulled an album to him, as he opened the first one, she stood behind him looking at the each of the pictures, watching to see if he knew anyone. "They're definitely old pictures." he said as he flipped through.

"Do you recognize any of them?"

He shook his head "No, I don't remember seeing any of these people."

"Maybe they're nothing, I was just hoping since apparently I'm adopted, that maybe these albums belong to me." She was beginning to lose hope, and started feeling down.

He grabbed another album and began looking through it, then stopped half way through. He placed his finger over a picture and began tapping his finger "I do recognize her, I believe her name was Phoebe Kemp." he looked up at her and sighed "She was a popular witch around here, she was able to see the future, the past, and was everyone's go to person when they wanted their loved ones to come back to life... until she was captured, hung, and burned."
