Fallen Angel

Chapter 4

It had been a few days after General Hagar visited them, surprisingly Sue had been understanding about Reed's situation and hadn't killed him, much to Johnny's disappointment, but he had been constantly questioning her about what she meant when she'd told him her bachelorette party had been 'wild.' Nyx knew she was exaggerating a bit and most likely couldn't even remember what happened that night just like she didn't know that Reed really did build the sensor. She would've told Sue about it but Reed had been so careful about making sure the wedding wasn't postponed again that she decided not to. Now they were standing outside on a roof waiting for the remaining wedding guests to arrive. Nyx saw Reed pacing back and forth checking his phone at regular intervals and looking at the door Sue would be walking through.

            "Relax its not even time to start yet." She told him.

            "I know that." Reed grumbled as he once again checked his phone.

            "Sue will kill you if you do that during the wedding."

            "Let's hope I don't have to then."

            Nyx gave him a death glare. "Yeah... lets. Otherwise Sue won't be the only one trying to kill you."

            The others excluding Sue and Johnny came out and sat in their seats, Nyx saw the newest guests were now taking their seats and went to sit in her own. Music started playing a few minutes later and Johnny came out leading his sister down the isle of plastic chairs and towards the alter. He left and sat beside Nyx while the priest walked between them with his bible in hand and a piece of paper.

            "And now the boring part..." She muttered quietly; receiving a light elbow in her side as Johnny smirked at her comment.

            The priest went on with his speech, not even half way through it though Reed's phone went off and from where Nyx sat she could see Sue trying not to glare at him as he checked it. The priest paused until Reed's phone stopped and started droning on again.

            "Can we just skip to the end?" Reed asked.

            Nyx couldn't believe her brother had just said that, Sue looked mad and the priest just looked shocked and confused.

            "Reed...!" Sue growled. "What's wrong with you?"

            His phone went off again before stopping suddenly, a helicopter that had been filming the wedding lurched forward and started crashing. People screamed and ran out of the way, chairs tipped over and littered the ground as they ran, and Alicia was standing in the way of the on coming blades in confusion. Nyx saw her and used her wings to glide over and take her to safety while Ben used his strength to stop the helicopter from falling off the edge of the building and taking Sue and Reed with it.

            Nyx saw silver flashing towards them through the air and spread her wings before flying off after it. Johnny must've saw it too because he shouted something and 'flamed on' to follow her. "What is that?"

            Nyx shrugged. "Go back to the others I've got it!"

            Johnny shook his head and tried to fly faster, Nyx glared at him and went closer to her maximum speed. They continued to race each other around the city as they chased the silver streak until they noticed a large skyscraper in front of them. They flew around it while the figure, which Nyx noticed looked like a human, just went right through it. They chased after the silver man turned back the way they'd come from, Johnny and Nyx looked at each other before racing after him again. The figure dove suddenly and entered a tunnel filled with cars, Nyx was forced to stop and Johnny hesitated.

            "Keep going I'll go back to the others!" Nyx ordered.

            Johnny nodded and flew into the tunnel after their quarry while Nyx flew back to the others, hopefully they could figure out whom they were and if they were a friend or enemy. When she got back the others looked around for Johnny and Nyx went told them what happened, after she finished they agreed to go back to the Baxter Building and wait for Johnny to return.
