Chapter 11

Nyx followed Johnny down multiple halls until they reached a storage room where their things were. He took out a box and opened it up to reveal a set of new uniforms with a number five on them.

            "We were going to officially announce you part of the team." Johnny sighed. "But I guess now you'll just go with Victor and forget us."

            Nyx took the suit from him. "Johnny... I wouldn't want to join you guys. In fact the only reason I stayed after getting my powers and defeating Victor the first time was because I was waiting for the wedding. After it was over I planned on leaving with or without you."

            "So now that he's back you're just leaving your friends and family?"

            "Yes."

            Johnny glared at her. "Then I guess I never really knew you."

            "I'm still the same person, you just pictured me how you wanted me to be even when I acted the exact opposite." Nyx turned around and headed towards the door. "I will promise you this, I will never let Victor kill you guys."

            Johnny didn't answer and put the suits away before following her; military officers soon came by and started leading them to a concrete chamber before Victor showed up.

            "Stand down she's coming with me." Victor told them.

            "On whose orders?" The officer asked.

            "Mine... Storm however should be kept with the others."

            Nyx walked over to Victor and he glanced smugly at Johnny before the guards started taking him away again. He put his arm around her and led her to his car before they got in and drove off. Nyx looked around as they went through the forest and through some country before getting bored with the silence and turned on the radio, she let out a sigh as it filled the silence in the car and continued looking out the window contently.

            After another half hour Victor finally stopped the car beside a river. "We're here."

            "This isn't the city." Nyx looked at him in confusion. "Since when did you prefer outdoors to a fancy building in a city?"

            He shrugged and led her over to a picnic table and placed a bag of food on it. "Well I decided to go somewhere no one would over hear us, recognize me, or interrupt us."

            "So are you going to tell me the plan first or shall we eat?"

            "I can talk and eat." Victor handed her a sandwich and soda. "At the moment I believe Hagar is interrogating the alien and the board is in a locked and guarded room. After we finish here I'm going go 'have a closer look'. Care to join me?"

            "You're stealing it." Nyx accused. "That's why the Fantastic Four are being kept in that other room."

            "It's for their protection and so they don't interfere with getting the information out of the alien. As long as they stay out of my way I won't hurt them... for your sake." Victor replied.

            Nyx relaxed slightly. "I'll go. But how do you expect to control the board?"

            "I hoped you'd ask that." Victor brought out a bracelet and gave it to her. "This is one I made for you, my new suit already has one built in, and this will resonate a frequency exactly like the one we scrambled so the board will respond to our commands."

            "And once you have it? What then?"

            "I take over, first my home Latveria and then I'll take down the governments and rule the world with you by my side."

            Nyx played with the bracelet and ate a few bites before responding. "I saw what you were making in your lab. It's an anti-fantastic four. You're going to kill them."

            Victor looked up at her. "They're growing? I thought the power would've failed by now and they'd just gather dust..."

            "That isn't my point!"

            "They are only being created to take them down if needed, but you could convince them to join me... my project could be terminated." Victor explained. "Are you still with me?"

            "As long as my friends aren't killed." Nyx promised and clipped the bracelet onto her wrist.

            Hours later Nyx woke up to the sound of an alarm going off, Victor sat up beside her and turned it off before getting up and going over to his newly built suit. Nyx glanced down at her hand where a second ring now reflected the clock's light and left to her room to get her combat boots and leather jacket. As she dodged the occasional soldier she realized how lucky she was it was midnight, if it had been nine or ten she probably would've been caught by now. She grabbed her stuff from her room and paused at the door before going back in and grabbing a pen and piece of paper, she ran down to Johnny's room and put the note on his suit; he'd find it she just hoped he'd understand she could live with Victor and still protect them. Alarms went off followed by people shouting orders to each other and Nyx knew her time was up.

            Victor met her outside and hovered above the building out of sight and waited for her to fly up and land on the board. "No last thoughts?"

            "Let's go." Nyx replied simply, she felt as if something bad was about to happen but cast it off, it was probably just the thought of betraying her friends. But I'm not... am I? I'll keep them safe.
