Chapter 6

The next day Johnny wasn't feeling much better and Nyx was starting to get worried, she began thinking that maybe he wasn't telling them the entire truth about what happened the other day but every time she asked he insisted it was, eventually she just gave up asking and left to go stop a bank robbery she'd seen on the TV after all she had nothing better to do, Reed was planning a meeting with Hagar and working on tracking the Silver Surfer, Ben was on a date, and Sue was worrying over Johnny. However after she came back there was a flaming figure outside the Baxter Building freaking out and surrounded by people; at first glance she thought it was just Johnny showing off but then the figure started floating and screaming like a girl. It was Sue, Johnny running out of the building only confirmed that fact, the only question Nyx had was how did Sue catch on fire?

            "What happened?" She shouted as she landed in front of the doors.

            "I don't know she just touched my shoulder!" Johnny replied.

            "Figure it out later and help me!" Sue screamed as she continued freaking out.

            "I'll get Reed." Nyx replied. "You can uh... deal with this."

            "Okay." Johnny agreed before trying to flame on... it didn't work though he turned invisible. "Yeah uh go find him quickly!"

            Nyx decided the elevator would take too long and took off once again and flew into the building through the open window. "Reed get out here your wife to be is on fire!"

It took a few minutes before he finally showed up and even then he was looking at his phone. "I know Sue is good at a lot of things and hot but why are you talking about it? That so unlike y-"

            Nyx smacked him in the head and took his phone before dragging him towards the window. "No look she's literally on fire!"

            "Oh crap! Sue! What happened?" Reed shouted as Sue continued floating higher up.

            "I'm on fire!"

            "Uh just... just calm down we can get you down!"

            "Good luck with that." Nyx muttered under her breath, if anyone touched her they would burn, well maybe not Johnny if he could reach her, and Ben was made of rock but he wasn't there.

            Eventually Sue managed to float down, or rather fall to the ground after the fire left, and Johnny covered his eyes before quickly switching powers with his sister so she could turn invisible. After they came back in Reed called Ben to tell him what happened and they all sat down in the lab for a meeting about what happened.

            "Why does this always happen to me?" Sue asked as she saw herself naked on the TV.

            Reed glanced at it before turning it off. "It's okay... people will forget all about that."

            "Not any time soon."

            "Of course they will, I mean when the world ends no one will be stupid enough to just sit there and watch TV." Nyx said.

            "The world isn't going to end." Reed growled.

            "According to Surfer it is."

            "Anyway," Reed glared at his sister and cleared his throat. "I analyzed blood samples from you and Johnny. Your results are normal however Johnny, yours showed that the molecules are in a state of flux that I think is the result of coming in contact with Silver Surfer."

            "Is that bad?" Johnny asked.

            "It caused you to temporarily switch powers with Sue. I'd like to run tests an-"

            "Want a volunteer?" Ben asked quickly before rushing over towards Johnny.

            "No, no, no, hey!" Johnny tried to back away.

            "I just wanted to give you a hug."

            "We don't know the extent of his condition it could be progressive." Reed warned.

            "It could be fun." Ben argued.

            Before anyone could stop him he touched Johnny on the shoulder and a red glow went up his arm while a tan one went up Johnny's. Ben went back to looking completely human and started smiling while Johnny became a rock with hair.

            "Hey I'm back! It's me!" Ben exclaimed cheerfully.

            Johnny grabbed a silver container and used it as a mirror. "Come on!"

            Nyx finally couldn't hold in her laughter, he just looked so funny as an orange colored rock. Ben was also acting pretty funny and child-like as he made fire appear on the tip of his finger by snapping.

            "Can you fix this?" Sue asked Reed.

            "Of course... I think."

            Johnny lunged at Ben but was too slow. "Give me my powers back!"

            Ben threw fire at him and laughed. "I can see why you like that!"

            Nyx saw Johnny was about to blow a fuse so despite how funny the entire situation was she went up behind Ben and 'accidentally' bumped him into Johnny so they switched back to their normal powers. Johnny glared at Ben but looked back at Nyx and cast her a grateful look.

            "So what are we going to do about this before you can fix it?" Nyx asked.

            "Johnny is going to have to keep his distance from us until I figure out how to fix this." Reed told them.

            "What?" Johnny looked at him in disbelief.

            "Looks like you and I are going to be spending a lot of time together." Ben smirked.

            They slowly left the room until only Johnny and Nyx were left. He walked over to her and was about to put his arm around her shoulders before remembering to keep his distance. "Help me... I am not switching powers with that rock again."

            "Yeah being a boulder with hair doesn't suit you."

            "You're my girlfriend, you're supposed to comfort me and tell me I look handsome."

            Nyx shrugged. "Well I'm not that type of girl. I don't suck up to my boyfriends."

            Ben glanced over at them and grinned. "Hey let's go get a drink, maybe find out more about switching powers."

            "As entertaining as this sounds to see I think I'll pass." Nyx laughed.

            Ben grabbed Johnny by his jacket and pulled him towards the elevator. "Help me..."

            "Sorry." Nyx smirked. "Ben, just make sure you don't burn down the bar."

            "I'll remember that!" Ben called back before leaving.
