Chapter 10

Nyx took out her phone and texted Reed's message to Sue before putting it away and beginning her search, when she found Victor his back was towards her and he seemed to be deep into his work. Deciding to have a little fun with this she grabbed hold of the water in his blood, which was easier now that he didn't have metal taking over his body, and forced him to stumble into the wall as he walked to get something.

            "So what are you doing down here? I thought you were helping Reed?" Nyx asked once he'd regained his balance.

            "Nyx..." Victor acknowledged. "Shouldn't you be with Storm?"

            "Knowing him he's having an eating contest with Ben, not something that will end well."

            Victor let out a puff of breath that could've been his form of laughing before turning to face her. "Tell your brother I'll be there to hold his hand and finish his little project for him."

            Nyx glared at him and made Victor slam into the wall. "You know I can control people through their blood but did you know that I can make it come through the pores in their skin until they bleed to death?"

            Victor struggled for a few moments. "You wouldn't kill me."

            "No, but I will hurt you beyond even Surfer's abilities to help you if you do anything to Reed or even make fun of him to my face or his."

            Nyx released his blood from her grip and started to leave before he grabbed her hand and turned her around. Victor looked down at it and examined the ring she still wore. "You kept it? After all I've done to you and Reed?"

            "I must've forgotten about it." Nyx lied.

            "Yes, I'm sure Flame Boy would let you." Victor replied before gauging to see if he'd gone too far by making fun of Johnny.

            "He doesn't like it but puts up with it." She shrugged. "After all it was meaningless since you were supposed to be dead."

            "And now that you know I'm not?"

            "...I don't know." Nyx looked towards what he was working on suspiciously. "What are you making?"

            "I'll tell you tonight... after we capture the alien." Victor said. "Unless of course you're busy with your team."

            "I'm not on any team I just came along with them for the fight. Otherwise I'd be back at the Baxter Building waiting for a bank robbery or something."

            "Then it's a date."

            Nyx looked into his eyes, they still had a cold edge to them but were mostly filled with the softness she'd remembered him only using around her. "It's a date."

            Victor let her leave this time and Nyx nervously made her way back to where Johnny and the others were. Was she really going to go with Victor, alone and on a date, behind her boyfriend's back? But you only date him because Victor was gone. A voice in her head replied while another one argued with it. No you love him more. Johnny's the good guy. But Victor, you have a spark with him.

            Nyx shook her head and focused on the issue at hand, soon they would be capturing Silver Surfer and the world could be safe. When she walked back into the room Sue was already in her suit and Ben was pacing the floor. "Where's Johnny?"

            "Taking a shower. He better hurry up Hagar said we're heading out in five minutes." Sue told her. "You should go get ready too."
