Nyx heard Reed calling for them to get to the elevator so they could leave and double-checked to make sure she had everything she needed before a small shock went through her again, barely detectable but she had started to notice that as the time to leave came nearer they happened in regular intervals, the only thing she couldn't figure out was why. He's there. A voice in the back of her head whispered but Nyx ignored the thought after all; Doom was dead she'd seen it with her own eyes.
"Nyx hurry up we can't keep Hagar waiting!" Reed shouted.
"Coming." She called back before running out.
A trap, Johnny had lied to her, as soon as Nyx was by the elevator Ben grabbed her arms and pinned them behind her while Reed took a syringe and took a sample of her blood. Nyx glared at Johnny who decided it was best to avoid eye contact and used the water in his blood to slam him into a wall across the room.
"I told you to keep quiet!" Nyx hissed as Ben let go of her.
Johnny held up his hands defensively. "Please hear me out... I- if you are dying we need to know. To help you."
"I don't need help. I feel fine... more energized." It wasn't a complete lie; after the pain receded she did tend to be twitchier, like she'd drank three cups of coffee.
"I've heard something like this before." Ben grumbled and Nyx turned to look at him.
"Look lets just go. Reed can sample that when he gets to the new lab and you can see I'm fine. Everybody's happy."
Reed gave her one last scrutinizing look before putting the needle in a safe container and grabbing his bags. "Fine, let's get this over with."
They all left the Baxter Building and while the others got into the two cars Hagar had waiting outside for them Nyx decided to fly and avoid any more of their distrusting questions and looks. One bad thing happens again and they all think she's a traitor it seemed. But you did betray them... You were with Victor; you helped him.
A few hours later they were deep in a forest and inside a military base. Nyx saw Johnny giving her an apologetic look but she stayed where she was: on the opposite side of the group as him. Since the Ferris wheel incident earlier that day no one seemed to want to be near him... or Reed, at least Nyx didn't want to be he hadn't told them they were just going to abandon the team. Some of the guards were glancing from them to the door nervously but General Hagar just stood there like he was made of stone.
"Now before the person you'll be working with comes in I'd like to remind you that you're not in charge here: I am." Hagar spoke up finally. "You will follow my commands and accept this person as your new best friend in the lab."
Nyx didn't like the sound of that and by looking at the others they were confused and suspicious too; after all why would they need so many warnings they were heroes, or at least the four were. Nyx was just there to help and to give herself something to do with her mutations. It didn't take them long to find out what was wrong, though if they had seen the static shocks between the metal feathers on Nyx's wings they could've guessed a lot sooner: Victor was back.
As impossible as it should be Victor Von Doom walked through the doors and gave all of them his cold smile. "What's the matter? Afraid of ghosts?"
Ben almost literally snarled like a rabid animal before charging him and pinning him to the wall causing it to crack slightly. "Since you're a ghost you won't mind if I break your neck!"
"Let him go." Hagar commanded while his men got ready to fight if needed.
Johnny whipped his head around to stare at him. "Do you know who that it?" "Victor Von Doom: and he's here under my orders."
"Ben, let him go." Reed ordered reluctantly.
Ben glared at Victor as he smirked in victory before releasing his grip on Doom's throat. Victor let him walk away before noticing how Johnny had unconsciously moved behind Nyx and narrowed his eyes at him slightly, not enough to possibly start another fight but just enough to warn him to back off.
"How is this possible?" Reed asked as his science side took over. "How can you still be alive?"
Nyx, who had decided it was best to become as invisible as she could without having Sue's powers, sighed. Why would he ask that? If anything ask why Victor didn't look like he was half robot anymore. That almost made her start laughing but considering the situation she kept her face blank.
"Well I'll just say it isn't any thanks to you that I'm not dead." Victor hissed. "That's for certain."
Hagar saw how dangerous the situation was getting again and cleared his throat. "Victor has made contact with the alien. He's got valuable information that could save the planet."
Victor gave them his superior look. "Now let's get this straight. I hate four of you, some varying in levels. But the world is at stake and we need to work together to survive."
Reed narrowed his eyes at his enemy but turned towards Hagar. "General, we know first hand, you trust Victor and you're going to regret it."
"Or be killed before you can..." Johnny muttered so only Nyx could hear.
Hagar glared back at Reed but his gaze scorched each of them. "So far, the only one I've regretted trusting is you, Richards."
"Reed, don't agree to this." Sue pleaded.
He ignored her and looked from Hagar to Victor and back again. "Okay, let's see what he's got."
