~A week later~
Your POV:
A few days have passed since the college reunion at Somi's house. I confronted Daniel about the smoking incident with Kelly.
He was shocked and embarrassed to find out I saw that, and kept apologizing for hiding it from me.
He explained that he started smoking in college due to peer pressure, so much so that it became a habit to this day.
But after I expressed my disapproval, he promised to work on his habit and try to quit for my sake.
And just like that, the matter was settled. I decided to look past it and give him a chance to improve himself.
We're all humans after all. We all make mistakes.
I got up from my bed and walked into the bathroom. Today was just a normal weekday. Daniel and his parents were busy at work while I was home as usual.
It was kind of quiet in the mansion today, a lot more than usual. I guess the maids must have a day off.
I was combing my hair and getting ready until I heard a loud banging on my bedroom door, making me jump.
"W-Who is it?" I asked.
"Who is it??!! Are you fucking kidding me?! Stop acting all high and mighty like you own this damn house! Now open this damn door before I break it down!" the banging started again.
I rolled my eyes. I didn't need to see their face to figure out who that is.
Aunt Linda.
I took a deep breath and hesitantly opened the door, to see her towering over me with her arms crossed.
"Yes Aunt Linda. What do you need?" I asked as nicely as possible.
"Watch your attitude, young lady. Remember what I said before, you do not belong in this household. I simply refuse to let you laze around all day, taking advantage of being a freeloader! Everyone in this house has a job, except for you! So I suggest you know your place!" she sneered.
I rolled my eyes. Here we go again.
This happens everytime I'm home alone with her. She acts like a saint when Daniel and his parents are around. But when we're alone, she turns into a predator and I'm her prey.
She cleared her throat, "The maids have a day off today, and the mansion looks as filthy as ever. If you're not going to leave, at least make yourself useful and clean the whole mansion you wretch," she said and shoved a duster into my hands.
I sighed and nodded. I guess I have no other choice.
