Chapter 12 ♔

Your POV:

I woke up to the sound of people talking. My eyes fluttered open but my vision was still blurry. After blinking several times, I realized I was laying on the bed of a hospital room.

Wait....Why am I at the hospital? 

What happened to me?  

I tried to sit up but failed. 

"Doctor, she's awake!" I heard a nurse yell. Upon hearing that, the doctor rushed into the room, followed by several other people. I noticed those people were Daniel and his parents. Expressions of concern sketched on their faces. 

There was also a lady standing beside them that I did not recognize. She kept glaring at me for some reason. Her ice cold gaze piercing through my soul. I felt myself shiver a bit.

But I was distracted as Daniel crushed me into a tight hug. "Thank god Y/N. I'm so glad you're okay." He said stroking my hair.

The doctor cleared his throat, "Excuse me but could everyone please leave the room? I need to examine the patient."

Daniel sighed and let go of me. "We'll be back later alright Y/N? Take care," he left the room with everyone else.

The doctor waited until everyone was out before turning to me again. 

He sat on the stool beside my bed, "Do you have any idea where you are and why you're here?" He asked gently.

I shook my head, "Not really."

"I see," He nodded and wrote something on his clipboard. "You seem to have short-term memory loss."

My eyes widened. 

Short-term memory loss?  

How did I get that? 

He smiled, "Don't worry, I'll fill you in on the situation. My name is Dr. Kwon Hyunbin and right now, you're at the YGKplus hospital. You were reported to be drowning and unconscious, sustaining minor injuries on your head. Luckily, that boy Daniel saved you and brought you to the hospital just in time. At first I thought you had full-on amnesia, but seeing that you recognized Daniel and his family, it seems you only have short-term memory loss. That means you will not remember the events that happened a few hours prior to your accident."

I nodded as I took in all the information. There were many questions swirling around my head. But the main one was: 

How did I drown in the first place?

Dr. Hyunbin stood up, "Alright Y/N. Are you ready to see your family?" I nodded and he left to call them.

A few minutes later, everyone came in with worried looks still on their faces. "Jagiya.." Daniel spoke first, "We heard you have short-term memory loss. But you still remember all of us right?"

I nodded.

Everyone sighed in relief. Daniel smiled, "Good. How about you say all our names just to make sure?" 

"Okay. You're Daniel....that's Eomma and Appa, and that's..." I paused once I saw the unknown lady again. She looked familiar but I couldn't recognize her.

The lady walked towards me and gently held my hands, "Oh honey, don't you remember me? I'm your favourite Aunt Linda."

"....Aunt Linda? Sorry, I don't recognize you.." I said apologetically. I was expecting her to be disappointed. But surprisingly, she smirked and looked relieved.

"That's strange," Dr. Hyunbin spoke up. "I was sure you would remember all your family members....did you perhaps meet your Aunt recently?" he asked.

Eomma nodded, "Yes she met Linda just a few minutes before the accident."

Dr. Hyunbin nodded, "Ah that explains it. Due to short-term memory loss, she won't remember anything or anyone she met just before the accident. No need to worry, you two can start all over again," he assured me and Aunt Linda.

"Wait but that doesn't explain how she drowned in the first place," Daniel spoke. 

I was just thinking the same thing.

"Perhaps she wanted to go swimming but accidentally went too deep?" Aunt Linda suggested.

I shook my head, "I don't think so. I can't swim so I definitely wouldn't go swimming in such a deep pool by myself."

"Oh, then I guess you accidentally fell in. What other explanation could there be?" Aunt Linda suggested once again.

"Yeah...maybe you're right," I nodded. She was right, I couldn't think of any other explanation. I probably just fell in because of my clumsy self. Jihoon would not be proud.

"Good. I guess everything is settled. I'm going to take my leave now, take care Y/N," Dr. Hyunbin patted my head before leaving the room.

Daniel frowned, "I don't like that doctor. He was flirting with you too much. It doesn't help that he's more attractive and taller than me."

We all laughed at his bitterness. 

Soon after, the nurse came and told us we're free to leave. She gave me some painkillers on the way out since I still had some head injuries. 

Before we exited the hospital, I heard the nurse calling out to me, "Y/N-sshi! Please wait!"

We stopped and waited for the nurse to catch up to us. She handed me a bouquet of flowers, "Dr. Hyunbin prepared this for you. He wishes you all the best in your recovery."

I smiled and gladly accepted the bouquet, "Wow these are beautiful! Please tell him I said thank you." The nurse nodded and walked away.

As I smelled the roses, I noticed a note attached to them:

Get well soon Y/N. Remember, Just be Joyful~

Daniel scoffed, "Alright now he's really starting to piss me off. Jagiya, let's not come to this hospital again. Next time, let's go to MMO hospital."

Once again, we all laughed at Daniel's bitterness. 

Wow, he's really cute when he gets jealous.
