ONCE Jonah and Daniel became aware of Riley's ear development, they knew they had to get to work. The doctor had said that around these few weeks her ears were going to start picking up on sounds gradually.

So Daniel and Jonah set up a plan. The Baby Talk plan- in which Daniel and Jonah spend 10 minutes every night talking to Riley. That way, she can start to recognize their voices.

Daniel didn't really need to be part of it. He said random things to Riley all day. She was going to know him no matter what since she grew inside of him.

But Jonah on the other hand, he was afraid. He wanted to be as involved as possible so he could build a connection in case there wasn't a parental one. After all, he only had a 25% chance.

The time they settled on was 10 pm, right before bed. So when it reached 10:15 pm and Jonah wasn't in Daniel's room, Daniel took it upon himself to go to him instead.

Once the pregnant brunette entered Jonah's room, he wished he had knocked first. Jonah was standing in just a pair of black sweatpants, his hair still wet from the shower.

"Baby talk time." Daniel murmured. "Sorry, I took a longer shower than usual." Jonah motioned toward his bed. "Sit, I just have to blow dry my hair." Daniel nodded.

He heard the blow drier go off in the washroom as he took a seat on Jonah's bed and leaned up against the headboard. Daniel wasn't shy to make himself comfortable. Jonah had told him numerous times to try to be, and plus he was pregnant. That's why he put up his feet too.

Minutes later, Jonah came out- still shirtless- but now with his normal fluffy hair standing up perfectly on its own. Jonah came around and joined Daniel on his bed, mimicking his position.

"So should we get started?" Jonah turned over to Daniel, using his elbow to prop him up. Daniel nodded. Jonah licked his lips before he began. "Hey Riley, it's daddy." Daniel immediately looked up at his choice of words.

Jonah felt himself shrink under Daniel's stare. He couldn't tell if Daniel liked it or not. "It's-Its okay right... for her to call me that? Or just you?" Jonah asked nervously.

"Jonah," Daniel reached over for his hand. He guided it all the way to his stomach and placed it over his bump. "You're her dad too." Daniel assured, catching Jonah's attention.

"We're doing this so she won't feel like she's missing anything. And she won't, because she'll have two people to call daddy. Me and you." Daniel smiled faintly. Jonah smiled too, rubbing his hand over Daniel's bump.

"We can't wait until you're here." Jonah continued to smile after he went back to speaking to Riley. "You're gonna make us so happy." Jonah slowly slipped his hand under Daniel's shirt.

Daniel's heart began to beat faster. Jonah's touch was warm and gentle, it made him crave it more than he should. Jonah lifted up Daniel's shirt and continued to soothe over his bump.

"This is okay, right?" Jonah tried to make sure. Daniel didn't trust his voice at that moment, all he did was nod. Jonah sighed in appreciation. "I hope we can make you happy too."

Daniel took in a deep breath and shut his eyes. He felt himself melt into Jonah's touch. Jonah shifted in bed, laying down now instead. Slowly, he sneaked his way over to Daniel.

Daniel's eyes shot open once he felt Jonah's head rest over his stomach. The feeling of Jonah's soft cheek pressed against his skin, and Riley- it was too much.

"You mind?" Jonah asked. "Not at all." Daniel yawned, getting tired. What made him even more tired was Jonah's soft hum, that gradually grew into a faint song.

"I'm in too deep."

My parents 😢
