WITH Riley having only two weeks left in the hospital, she was finally ready to be held. Daniel had gone to the hospital with the most joy that he's felt in weeks.

"Okay so we're going to start by resting her on your chest." Jane explained. Daniel nodded. He immediately took off his shirt so she could hear his heart beat.

"Ready?" Jane asked, smiling. Daniel nodded eagerly, having anticipated this moment for weeks. Gently, Jane placed Riley on Daniel's chest.

Upon feeling her soft skin pressed to his, Daniel immediately began to cry. He had been way too emotional lately. But with his circumstances in mind, it was normal.

"You're so perfect." He whispered to his daughter. He felt her subtly wiggle in his big hand, pressing her cheek further against his heart.

"My precious princess..." Daniel kissed her forehead softly. "I can't wait to show you the world." He took a deep breath, finally taking in the scent of his daughter.

"Can I hold her?" Jonah asked, his voice small. Daniel gave him an unsure look. He felt like the whole world was danger and he needed to protect her, but technically Jonah was her father too, figuratively.

Daniel nodded, passing her to the shirtless Jonah. Jonah had never felt so connected to someone in that moment. Holding Riley up against his heart felt so right to him.

Before all of this, he was afraid that he would lack connection with Riley. And now, still not knowing who her real father was didn't bother him at all, because in his heart she was a part of him.

Jonah shut his eyes, rocking her back and forth in his arms. All he wanted to do was comfort her and make sure that she was always happy. He wanted to mean everything to her.

"Give her back." Daniel said stubbornly. Jonah sighed, giving up his daughter as told. Daniel smiled down at her, playing with her little fingers.

"Wait for me in the car." Daniel instructed. Jonah opened his mouth to fight back, but he knew that he was in the wrong. Daniel has every right to treat him badly. "Okay." Jonah spoke with a pang in his heart.

As soon as Jonah was out of his way, Daniel looked over at Jane. "So... this is going to sound weird but," he bit his lip. "I want to get a DNA test done for Riley's father."

Jane didn't give him a judgmental look. "Of course, but you're going to have to bring in a sample of saliva or blood." She informed. "Can I bring in four?" Jane widened her eyes.

Daniel felt so small under her look. If only she knew that truth. "It's a long story..." he gave her a sheepish look. "It's no problem, Mr.Seavey. Just bring them in and I'll have your results in two days time."

It was hard for Daniel to let go of Riley, but he knew that she was still not ready to be brought home. So he left her in the hospital for another night.

In the car, he slammed the door shut. "I'm getting a DNA test done. Get me their samples." He said coldly. "What? We didn't talk about this." Daniel rolled his eyes. "Just get me the goddamn spit."
