THE next morning, Daniel woke up in Jonah's embrace. They had a quiet morning to themselves before their flight back home. No awkwardness or sadness in the air, just one question: should I mention the kiss?

As soon as they got him, Daniel disappeared up the stairs. He was in deep need of a warm shower and a nap. Jonah allowed him his space, choosing to spend time with Jack instead.

"So what exactly went down?" Jack asked, sitting next to Jonah on the couch. Jonah sighed, holding the bridge of his nose. "They basically disowned him."

"That bad?" Jack cringed. "Yeah, they used the words 'dead to us'" Jonah frowned, remembering the look on Daniel's face. "They looked at us in pure disgust. It just- it bothered me so much to see him being let down. By his own family especially."

Jack remained silent, allowing Jonah to vent. He honestly didn't mind playing the role of the therapist from time to time. "I hated seeing him cry. I hated how they made Riley seem like a bad thing. That's our goddamn child."

"They'll come around. Daniel is their son." Jack assured. "They better." Jonah sighed, slouching back into the couch. "All you have to do is focus on making him feel better." Jonah nodded.

They sat in silence for a few minutes after that. Until, Jonah had the urge to say something. Their kiss hasn't stopped replaying in his head since. And there's no one better to vent to than Jack.

"Can I tell you something? But promise you won't say." Jonah said quietly, looking over at his curly headed best friend. "Of course Jonah, anything."

"We kissed." Jonah murmured. Suddenly he felt a weight being lifted off his chest. "Just now? During that trip?" Jack asked. "Yeah."

"Well? How did you like it?" Jack wondered. "It was...so perfect. I felt like I was craving that kiss all along, I just didn't know I was though. It was so short and simple yet.... it flipped my whole world upside down."

"You think he likes you?" Jack moved closer to Jonah, trying to keep things discreet. "I hope." Was all that Jonah said. "Just don't break his heart. We've done enough damage already."
