JOEY POV
    "Who are you?" I ask the man in front of me. He suddenly stops and looks at me with sadness in his eyes.
     "I'm....not sure....a few hours ago I was a loving father , loved by my family, I had a beautiful wife who I loved unconditionally.....but here....apparently I'm a heartless hated murderer...." He explains.
      "Yeah, I kinda know what that feels like..." I carefully say.
        "You do?"
        "Yes.....well...it's not like yours....I loved my whole life thinking my dad never wanted me...that he abandoned me...and I felt like it was all my fault....I mean, I had just been born...and it's not like anyone could ever get tired of Celine....but then, I come here, and find out that the reason my dad left us was not because of me...but because he wanted to protect us..." the man looked at me with a glint of something I can't explain. It was curios, yet understanding and happy.
       "No one could ever get tired of you," the man says.
        "Why do you say that?" I ask.
        "Because you, are my granddaughter,"

CLARY POV
     Jace and I were walking back to the room Valentine was in. We have been so busy all day we forgot about him. I open the door and see Joey inside, talking to Valentine. "Jocelyn Herondale!" I sternly ask in anger. "What are you doing here?!" I ask. Joey stands up in confusion.
      "Wait so...you're Valentine?" Joey asks him. "You were commuting genocide to get rid of downworlders?!" 
      "I didn't! I've never hurt anyone! Much less plotted genocide!" Valentine says in desperation. It made me want to believe him.
       "Valentine Morgenstern," Jace suddenly says in a cold monotone voice. Whenever it came to Valentine Jace shut himself down. He really cared about my father. And he still does, regardless of the things he did. He was Jace's father. "You are hearby sentenced to dea-," all of a sudden, Jace's sentence was caught off by his phone. I quickly silence his phone. "To death, by orders of the clave," Jace finishes. Joey had tears running down her cheeks. She rushes out of the room, Jace and I behind her. I stop behind the door as I see Joey run down the hall.
      "Hello?" I turn around and see Jace talking on the phone.

JACE POV
     "Hello?" I ask.
      "Jonathan Christopher Herondale!" I hear from the other line. "Where in God's name are you?!"
       "Excuse me?" I ask confused.
      "Why aren't you in your apartment?!" The woman asks.
        "Who is this?"
        "Who is this? WHO IS THIS?! I'm the damn woman who gave you life! Now tell me! Where the hell are you!"
        "What?!" I ask.

CLARY POV
     "Jace? Who is it?" I ask.
     "Um..." Jace puts the phone down for a second, still on the call. "I have to go to New York...I'll tell you about it when I get back, ok? I promise," Jace says as he quickly pecks my lips. "Take care of the kids!" Jace yells at me as he disappears down the hall.
