Venus's POV:

Ellorie's foster mom picked her up and agreed to allow her to come to the apartment for when our father arrives. She also offered to give me a ride back so I don't have to order a car, and I hesitantly accepted.

Her foster mom was so nice. Her name is Carla González and she's been doing foster parenting for seven years now. (A/N: I added a photo of what I imagine her to look like on the cast page! I found this on google and don't own any rights to it.)

When we arrived at our apartment building, Carla told Ellorie to call her when she was ready to be picked up and then we headed up to our floor and entered into our quiet apartment.

"Looks the same." Ellorie said, heading to the couch and sitting in her usual spot.

"Feels different, though." I said as I sat beside her.

"So did you decide to forgive Noah?" She hit me with questions.

"Um... Yeah, I guess so." I didn't know what else to say other than to admit that I was ready to get over this.

"I'm glad you decided to forgive him. I really like him, V. I don't want him to fade out of our lives. I don't think I can take another loss right now." She finally started to open up to me.

"You're never going to lose me, Ellie. No matter how big our fights may be, I'll always be here for you... I promise." I turned to face her, "And I want to make it work with Noah, so don't worry, okay?"

"Okay." She half-smiled and we embraced each other in a hug.

My phone buzzed and I saw a text from our dad saying he just landed and would be to the apartment soon.

Ellorie and I started to clean the place a bit so we don't look like complete slobs.

We were sitting on the couch watching TV when we heard our alarm buzz, telling us someone was downstairs waiting for us to let them up.

Ellorie and I looked at each other and I could tell she was nervous and afraid.

"We got this." I squeezed her hand as I stood up off the couch and walked over to our microphone.

"Who is it?" I asked nervously.

"It's your dad, Venus. I'm here." He sounded nervous too.

I buzzed him up and shortly after there was a knock at our door. Ellorie came and stood beside me and we opened the door together.

Seeing our dad in front of us was a wild experience.

"Hi girls." He was dressed so formal, is he always like this?

"Hi." I half-smiles, nervously.

"Hi dad." Ellorie said shyly.

"May I come in?" He asked respectfully.

Ellorie and I scooted out of the way and allowed him inside. We all sat around the small dining table.

"How are you?" My dad asked, oblivious as ever.

"Moms funeral was today." I said bluntly, catching him off guard.

"I'm sorry I couldn't make it. I hope you got my flowers." He tried to be apologetic but I didn't know if I bought it or not.
