Harry’s POV
I looked down at Alexis, while continuing to rub her arm. She was pretending to be asleep, although by the occasional chill that ran through her arm, I knew she wasn’t. I smiled to myself, listening to the other boys bicker about something or another.
“That’s not even true,” Louis said from his seat beside Zayn.
“It is too!” Niall piped up from next to Natalie, who was looking up at Niall lovingly. I swear she would fall off of the face of the earth for that boy, and he didn’t even know it.
“What are you even arguing about?” Liam asked,, obviously annoyed, from his seat.
“Niall said that he’s sexier than me,” Louis grumbled, his face falling into a pout.
“I’m going to go with Niall on this one,” Natalie said quickly, smiling at the abashed face Louis made.
“Yeah, I’m going with Niall too,” Liam said quickly.
“I’m with Lou!” Alexis said quickly, hiding her face again soon after she said it. She was tired, that was easy to tell, although all we did last night was talk.
“I’m with Lou, too,” I said, siding with the other half of my much envied bromance.
“I’m mutual,” Zayn said, avoiding any conflict that could have arisen.
“You can’t even be mutual, you’re the deciding vote!” Natalie said, acting more upset than I’m sure she really was.
“I just am, because really I’m the sexiest of them all,” Zayn said smugly, smirking from the front seat. Why does that not surprise me?
“That’s not even fair,” Alexis huffed from below me. I smiled, she was cute when she got mad.
What? I didn’t really think that, did I? Okay, to be honest, I did. I liked her a lot, and I wanted to know her more. I was just afraid, because she isn’t famous, and as good as that is in some ways, it’s also bad in others. She doesn’t have money, so what if she just likes me for my money? She’s a fan, so what if she only likes the me in front of the cameras? What if she can’t deal with me when I’m mad, or when I’m upset, or when I’m hurt? I’m tentative towards any sort of relationship after what happened with Caroline.
“Hello? Earth to Styles. Let’s go eat. The vegetarian is hungry,” Alexis said, waving her hand wildly in front of my face. I shook my head, chuckled, and pushed myself out of the car, looking up at the nice Nando’s in front of us.
“Yeah, sorry, I zone out. Fortunately, I don’t do it as often as this girl I know, I think her name was Alexis? Just some crazed fan I met. Couldn’t hold a conversation with her without having to throw my hand in front of her face,” I replied cheekily, laughing as she smacked my arm halfheartedly. “Abuse! Abuse of a popstar!” I fake-yelled, laughing at the horror that stayed on her face for a full minute before she realized nobody heard me.
I watched her face melt into an easy smile as she grabbed my hand, pulling me into the restaurant.
“What are you even going to eat here? It’s known for chicken. Last I checked, you don’t even eat chicken,” I asked, wondering why she wanted to come here so badly when she couldn’t even eat the main dish served.
“Salad,” she stated, before continuing as though she’d read my mind. “It’s all about the experience, being able to say I’ve been to Niall’s favorite restaurant. It’s even better because I can say I came to Niall’s favorite restaurant, with Niall. Yeah.”
I chuckled, rolling my eyes as we walked towards our seat, secluded in order to prevent any recognition. It was weird, because I easily forgot that she was a fan, probably just as crazed as the other ones on twitter. It was amazing how well she contained herself, to be honest.
“Hey, are you going to order, or?” Natalie asked. I shook my head, before realizing the question was directed at me, seven sets of eyes looking at me expectantly.
“Oh! I’ll have the house special, and a Dr. Pepper,” I said, feeling my face warm up.
“You sure you don’t zone out as much as I do?” Alexis asked from her seat beside me. We were in a round table, Alexis at one end, followed by me, Louis, Liam, Zayn, Natalie, and then Niall. Alexis and Niall being claustrophobic, we thought it best to seat them at the ends.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m sure,” I replied sarcastically, enjoying the lunch we soon received, one of the many perks of being famous.
About an hour later, and we were all full and laughing, standing up to leave the restaurant.
“Okay, so pretty much, erm, we have an interview, and so we have to, uhm, go,” Niall said, obviously trying to imitate me. I simply rolled my eyes, brushing it off.
“Yeah, we do, so we’ll catch up, alright? We called to have someone pick you up and take you back to the hotel,” I said, continuing where Niall left off.
“Yeah, go! Don’t say the wrong things! What channel is it on?”
“We don’t really know. Some local station, but it’s in the guide. You’ll have to look,” Louis spoke up, giving both of the girls a hug as we walked them to their car. We all cycled through, Niall whispering something in Natalie’s ear that made her blush. I was last.
I hugged Natalie, smiling at her and sending her the best silent thank you I could. Then, walking up to Alexis, I pulled her into a hug, spinning her in a circle. “Hey, I’ll text you, okay?” I said, asking more than telling.
“I’d like that,” she said quietly.
“Come on, Haz! You’re saying goodbye for one day, not for forever!” Louis yelled from our car.
“Yeah, so bye!” I said quietly, stealing a quick kiss as I left. Bad, bad, bad idea.
