I waved to Natalie before walking back out into the hallway. I grabbed my stuff out of my locker and walked down the hall to my biology room. I was immediately hit by the smell of chemicals from the chemistry lab next door. I took a second to regain my footing before walking over to my seat in the back row. “Chris!” I said enthusiastically as I sat down. He was my best guy friend, he’s been there for me since day 1. He was wearing his usual outfit, cargo pants and a band t-shirt. His shirts, quite frankly, scared me. They almost always had some form of screaming demon on them. But he could listen to what he wanted, I suppose.

“How are you?” He asked, turning around to look at me.

“Great! Natalie and I are doing a video tonight!” I said, searching through my purse for a pencil. My iPhone lit up, so I checked that quickly.

“@TheEllenShow mentioned you on Twitter.”

My Echofon App said. I looked up at Chris silently. He was looking at me, obviously expecting an answer.

“I’m sorry, what?” I said, trying my best to act normal.

“Is this the one?” He joked, knowing about Natalie’s silliness just as much as I did. I laughed.

“Yeah, I think so.” I said, being truthful for a change. Our teacher, Mrs. Doll, finally walked into the room, so Chris turned around and I got my notebook out. Seconds into the discussion the tweet was forgotten about. Biology was my worst subject, so I had to pay attention.

I walked out of biology with no brain cells left. We were talking about all the evolutionary milestones of the kingdom Animalia. It required a lot of brain power and memorization, so after 50 minutes of it, I was ready to be done. I grabbed my keyboarding and English stuff out of my locker, and walked towards the stairs.

“Hey, meet me by my locker after school?” Natalie grabbed my arm as she walked by. I simply nodded before getting lost in the crowd.

Two hours later I was waiting patiently by Natalie’s locker. I had my English and Geometry folders with me, so I could get my homework done at her place. Remembering the tweet from Ellen, I grabbed my phone out of my purse just as Natalie walked up.

“You ready?”

“Just a second. Look.” I showed her the notification. I laughed slightly as her mouth went slack and all of her stuff fell to the floor.

“Holy shit, What does it say?” She said, pulling at my iPhone.

“Just a second!” I pulled up the tweet, my expression similar to Natalie’s as I read the tweet.

“@TheEllenShow: @GetTheHoranHug Dedication pays off. We’ll be watching tonight. J”

“Shit.” I said. “Oh my god. This is huge. Natalie?” I looked over at my best friend. She was staring at the screen with a blank expression, obviously in shock.

“Oh. My. Gawd.” She finally said. I laughed at her.

“This one is going to have to be extra good then!” I said, pulling her out to her mom’s waiting car.

“Hey girls!”

“Hi!” Natalie and I both said, before talking animatedly about our video tonight.

“Natalie, are you ready?” I said, setting up the camera.

“Yes!” She said, walking into the room.

“Don’t forget the catch phrase!” I said, smiling.

“I love Niall more than a cow loves his spots!” She yelled, laughing. I sat down with her, turning the camera on.

“Hello Twitter world!” Natalie yelled into the camera. We both waved happily.

“So, today, we have one huge announcement!” I said enthusiastically. “The Ellen Show tweeted us, and they are watching this right now.” So, we’re going to give another rundown of Operation Get The Horan Hug, and that will pretty much be it for the black and white video! As always, we’ll answer some questions and give a few shoutouts, but our main goal is to make sure everyone understands what our goal is!” I explained.

“So, pretty much the idea of Operation Get The Horan Hug is to get me, Natalie, a hug from my future husband, Niall Horan. We think maybe he should know I exist, since we’re getting married. A secondary goal is to get that girl over there, Alexis, a hug from her love, Harry Styles. She wants a Harry Hug! Does that make sense? Tweet us any questions you may have!” Natalie explained. We continued to talk, and be goofy. We answered some questions, and gave some shoutouts before signing out.

“This is great! Let’s edit in the color effects, and get this baby up.” I said, pulling Natalie’s computer over to me. I looked around the room quickly to help me decide what sort of gradient I should use for the color change. Her room was lime green with hot pink dots, the average teenage room. All of her One Direction posters hung behind the two giant arm chairs we filmed in. I decided to just do standard, and went about editing the video. “Go ahead and tweet it’ll be up by six.” I told Natalie.

“Will do!” She said, grabbing her phone.

About 20 minutes later we were staring at the clock, patiently waiting for it to hit six p.m. At six on the dot, we clicked tweet. That tweet changed our lives forever.
