“It’s dark!” Natalie yelled, running up to Harry and me. I laughed softly.
“Yeah, it is dark. You left Niall out there to fend for himself?” I asked, feigning shock.
“Crap. You’re right. I should probably go find him. How about we have a bonfire?” She suggested.
“That’s a great idea! Go find Niall, we’ll tell everyone else.” Harry jumped in. Natalie nodded and ran off. I looked up at Harry, flashing a smile at him when he looked back down at me.
“Where did everyone go?” I asked, looking around. No one had been anywhere around us, except for the small run-in with Natalie. Harry shrugged.
“I don’t know, but we should probably go find them.” He said, pulling me further down the beach. I heard Louis yelling before I could see them. Liam was laughing at whatever Louis had done, and I heard Zayn say something as well. Sure enough, we rounded a corner and found three boys, all of which were doubled over in laughter.
“What did Lou do this time?” I asked, earning the attention from each of them.
“He sat on. I can’t.” Liam started laughing again. Louis huffed over and sat down next to him.
“It isn’t even funny.” Louis grumbled, obviously embarrassed.
“He sat on a crab. It pinched his ass!” Zayn yelled out, before laughing again. Harry and I both looked at each other before laughing as well.
“We’re supposed to inform you that we’re having a bonfire.” Harry managed to get out about two minutes later, right as Natalie and Niall walked up.
“Why does everyone look like they just ran a marathon?” Natalie asked.
“I want food.” Niall continued.
“Lou sat on a crab. We’ll get you food.” I said, grabbing some driftwood that wasn’t too wet. “Doesn’t driftwood burn colors?” I asked, looking down at the light wash wood.
“I think so.” Natalie said, helping me pick some up.
“Well that’s just dandy!” I joked, putting all the wood in a pile. Zayn lit it with a lighter and we were all soon in a circle around it.
“What are we going to do?” Louis yelled, biting into a hot dog. Natalie had obviously planned for the bonfire when we went into town for lunch, because she had bought hot dogs, sodas, and the stuff for s’mores. I was enjoying a s’more, politely declining the third hot dog Niall had offered me.
“You sure you don’t want this one?” Niall asked, putting the food in my face.
“I’m quite alright, thank you.” I smiled, taking a drink of Dr. Pepper.
“Why won’t she eat? She’s going to wither away and die!” Niall yelled, growing frantic. I shoved my s’more in his face pointedly.
“I am eating! Just not that!” I yelled, laughing at the same time.
“This is like heaven on Earth.” Niall mumbled. “Why wouldn’t you eat it?”
“Do you have any idea what is in that thing?” Harry asked, defending me.
“I don’t care too. I just know it tastes good!” Niall took a bite of his hot dog, already roasting another one.
“Why isn’t he fat?” I whispered to Harry. He laughed at me.
“Honestly, I have no idea.” He whispered back.
“Don’t let her fool you, Niall. She won’t eat it because she doesn’t eat meat.” Natalie said, smiling at the way my jaw dropped when she told them. “Stupid vegetarian.” She mumbled, winking at me. Niall looked at me with an expression similar to mine.
“She what?” He yelled, still staring.
“Thanks for throwing me under the bus, Natalie.” I mumbled, looking sheepishly at Niall.
“No, I don’t eat meat Niall. I am not going to explain why, either. So don’t bother asking.” I smiled, taking another bite of my s’more.
“It’s okay Niall! I eat meat.” Natalie yelled.
“Thank goodness one of you is normal.” Niall said. I spit my soda all over the place.
“Ew! Gross!” Harry yelled, jumping up to dodge any more soda I spit. I grinned sheepishly at him.
“Sorry. Are you kidding me, though? She is not normal. Natalie Balducci is about as abnormal as it gets. Do not let her fool you because she can eat a damn hot dog.” I said, wiping my mouth with the back of my hand.
“I agree with her. I’m not normal.” Natalie said.
“I agree with them!” Louis jumped in.
“Lou, you just like us because we have about as much of a filter between our brain and mouths as you do.” I said, smiling.
“Truth or dare!” Natalie yelled. I groaned, earning questioning glances from the rest of the group.
“I always regret playing this game.” I said by way of explanation.
“You’ll have fun! I promise!” Harry yelled, grabbing my hand. I smiled, putting my head on his shoulder.
“Whatever you say.” I trailed off, letting Natalie begin the game.
“Truth or dare, Haz!” Natalie yelled.
“Why are you being so loud tonight, Nat?” I asked, feeling every syllable she shouted in my head.
“I’m sorry. I forgot about your headaches. You should really go to the doctor.” She said, giving me a look that oozed concern.
“Yeah, I’m fine. I just want to know how many energy drinks you’ve had today.” I said, looking at the Monster in her hand.
“I don’t know, five, maybe? I’ll try to be quiet. Haz! Truth or dare?” Harry looked at me, obviously confused, before facing Natalie.
“Um. Truth.”
“What did you and Alexis do last night?” She asked excitedly, followed by a chorus of ‘oohs’ from the group.
“We watched Titanic.” Harry said, smiling at me.
“That isn’t what I meant!” Natalie whined.
“Maybe you should try to be more specific.” Harry said. “Alexis, truth or dare?” Oh no.
