I shook my head at the image Atiyya sent me. She sent it last night, but I didn't see it until the next morning due to me being sleep.

I couldn't even wipe the crust out of my eye and it was already some bullshit.

I texted back.
Preciate it 💯

She already knew that was my way of saying I had the situation handled.

Don't do anything stupid.

I only liked the message. I wasn't going to do nothing crazy, but I was done with Jamie.

Truth be told, I had been done. Her being with this old ass dude was just the icing on the cake.

Her sex was cool, but she really wasn't offering me anything beyond that. The last few times we did it, I just wasn't into it at all.

I honestly was starting to think dudes just liked being able to say they hit. She was arm candy for them.

Don't get me wrong, she could be a real cool girl at times. Even with some of the red flags I noticed, I still was trying to give her a chance.

After the conversation Atiyya and I had a couple days ago, I knew I needed to move on for now and I was actually considering giving Jamie a genuine shot.

Maybe not a relationship just yet, but definitely more talking and getting to know each other rather than just meeting up to have sex.

I needed more, that's all. Good looks could only hold a persons attention for so long.

But this just showed me that if I wanted to build something with someone, Jamie was not capable of being that person.

I got up and threw my phone down before going to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face.

The house was pretty quiet for the most part. Only the air conditioning was heard whistling through the house.

Mewmaw had went on some elders retreat with her book club for a couple of days and J went to go stay with one of our relatives until she got back because she didn't think I could look after him properly.

I didn't protest. This just meant more time for myself.

I think Memaw has some secret boyfriend that she ain't telling nobody about. I ain't never heard her mention anything about a book club before so I knew something was up.

I walked out of the bathroom and went into my closet to find something professional to where. I chose to lay out some gray slacks and a salmon pink button down with a gray tie. I went ahead and pulled out the Versace cuff links for a nice, finishing, touch.

I had an interview at a Holiday inn to be a front desk clerk. You know answer phone calls, check people into their rooms, that sort of thing.

Just something to hold me over until I get ready for training and go to school. Anyways, I had to be there at three.

I didn't need to start officially getting ready until one thirty-ish and I got my hair cut yesterday so all I really needed to do was throw my clothes on and leave. The hotel wasn't too far from where my grandma lived anyway. Until then, I was just going to lounge around the house.

I had an incoming FaceTime call from 'tiyya.
"You're not mad at me are you?" She said as soon as I picked up the phone and answered.

"Of course not. Why would I be upset?" I furrowed my eyebrows. If anything, I was relieved. Saved even.
