vanessa has officially graduated her first year of college and she's five months pregnant. it's the middle of june, meaning its the most perfect time for me to propose. i've had it planned out in my head for awhile. this time last year, vanessa and i moved to la for good since she was officially done high school. now, she's pregnant with our baby. her birthday is next month, july 12. last year we didn't do much, but this year intend on making it a memorable one. not the point.

vanessa absolutely loves being outdoors, but loves being around children and in a youthful space. i thought, what better way than taking her to an amusement park for the beginning of the date? she won't be able to do anything extravagant, but just the basic and easy rides will do.

after that, that's when im planning on proposing. it's truly going to be amazing. someone who is in on it is johnson. he's going to be a little camera man and get pictures of the engagement so we have the memory of it in our hands forever.

"hey baby" vans comes down the stairs, waddling a little bit due to the growth of her stomach.

"hey princess, what are you doing up? i told you to rest since you'll be doing a lot of walking later" i say, standing up and making my way over to her.

she smiles with a small sigh, "go sit down. you don't have to help me with everything, im okay."

"you know i care about you" i explain, "and i know what's planned tonight, so i want to make sure that you aren't going to be sore or unhappy later."

"listen here, baby. im happy whenever im around you, so there's no doubt in my mind i will be unhappy" she assures me, pecking my cheek before going into the kitchen.

we were currently on our last ride at the aumesement park. the ferris wheel. probably one of the most popular rides at any amusement park.

"isn't the city beautiful?" she asks, peering out the window as we reach the top, "like look at it. i've never seen anything so effortlessly pretty."

"i have" i state, causing her to turn around and furrow her eyebrows in confusion, "im looking at her right now."

she lightly shakes her head with a smile, "you're so cheesy."

i nod, "only sometimes and only for you."

the wheel continues to move down, it finally being vanessa and i's turn to exit. we get off, vanessa saying a quick 'thank you' to the young girl letting us through.

"where to next, jack?" she says with a smile, taking hold of my hand.

"the next part is also a surprise, princess" i respond, pulling her into my side.

we finally make our way back to the car as i hold her passenger side door open. on my way back to the other side, i get an important text.

"jack, why the hell are we hiking?" vans groans, "you know, i didn't believe you when you said we'd be walking a lot. im regretting taking that hint lightly."

i chuckle, "almost there, baby."

continuing to walk a bit further, i see the destination that i have been waiting for. it was currently 9:30 at night and the city was lit up. we were at the hollywood sign.

"the view, wow" she comments with a breathy sigh.

"this is probably the second most beautiful thing in the world" i say, my hand beginning to shake, "the first one's you and it always will be you. you're always going to come first, and once that baby comes, they're being added to first with their mama."

vans looks at me, her eyebrows pulling together, "i don't know if im oblivious or you're just being really sweet."

i laugh, "you're never oblivious. i think you know what's going on, i think you've known for awhile. you're going to be an amazing mother, but im hoping you're also going to be an amazing wife."

my sentence causes vanessa to open the gates of tears, the salty liquid leaving her eyes as she covers her face, "im sorry, pregnancy doesn't help my emotions."

"it's okay, don't apologize about it. what do you say, vanessa thomas? i've talked to your dad and he said he would love if we got married. i brought you here because i don't know if we'll be here forever. i don't know where we'll end up, maybe back in omaha. but this spot is going to mean so much more than just where we began living together, where our baby was made, and now, where we got engaged. if you say yes. in the beginning, it really didn't seem like this was going to be possible, you know why. im the luckiest man because i can stand here before you and ask you this" i got down on my knee and took the ring's box out of my pocket, "vanessa thomas, will you marry me?"

she wiped her tears and nodded, "of course i will."

not caring about the ring, she picks me up and embraces me, laying an immediate kiss on my lips.

"i love you" i mumble against her lips.

"i love you, fiancé" she pulls back with a smile, "the most handsomest fiancé out there."
