jack gilinsky
the four of us sat on the plane, the three idiots surrounding me talking about pointless shit that entered their minds. all that was circulating my mind was the fact that i got to see vanessa in about twenty minutes or so. and the boys were meeting her in person too, which slightly terrified me.
all of us had decided that coming back to omaha on our breaks was the best idea for clarity and happiness. though, all my happiness these days seems to surround specifically one girl.
"hello passengers, the flight from sydney, australia to omaha, nebraska is about to prepare for landing. please remember to remove all of your belongings in the overhead compartment before exiting the plane. it is 68°F today, partly cloudy. thank you for flying with us and enjoy your time in omaha" the automated voice surrounds the passengers.
as the automated voice was speaking, it only shot more excitement through me. it's been approximately five weeks since i've seen vanessa, as well as my family. the reason why vanessa's picking me up is for two main reasons. one, my parents are working so they are unable to, so vanessa offered. two, i was already planning on hanging out and visiting with her, so my parents said that she should just pick me up anyway.
"aye gilinsky" skate says with the tap of my shoulder from behind johnson and i.
i turn my head around, "yeah?"
he smirks, "you exited?"
johnson laughs, "guys, we get to meet this girl in person!"
sammy has a wide smile, "it's about time we get to meet her in person."
"please don't make me regret this" i roll my eyes, turning back around to see that the plane was finally landing. thank god.

vanessa had just responded to me informing me of where her car was parked, that way we could find her easier. johnson, sam, and nate were extremely excited to meet her. extremely.
finally, after what felt like an eternity, i saw her standing outside of her car, leaning her body on it. immediately, i jogged with my luggage and went directly to her. fuck anybody who was in my way, i had my eyes set on her and that's where i was headed.
she had yet to notice me, her head facing the other direction. i let go of my luggage and wrapped my arms right around her petite waist and lifted her up. her high pitched scream was evident to my ears.
"jack!" she then yells, realizing it was me, "can you put me down so i can hug you properly?"
i do as told, setting her feet back on the ground as she looks up at me with a huge smile. she wraps her arms around me, "i missed you."
while holding her, i mutter back into her hair, "i missed you too."
we pull away, the both of us catching the three boys staring at us. two of them, sammy and nate, held smirks as johnson simply smiled.
"so you're vanessa!" johnson excitedly says, "bring it in!"
he immediately captures vanessa in his arms as she laughs.
when they pull away, sammy pulls her in for a hug, "are you happy to see jack again?"
she nods as they pull away, "you have no idea how boring the neighbourhood can be."
nate laughs as he embraces her as well, "well, at least he has good eyes."
my eyes automatically roll, "you're such a dumbass."
"well" johnson says, "we're taking a cab because we're going out to eat. nice meeting you, vanessa. we'll probably see you again."
sammy nods, "not probably, it's certain you will see us."
nate wraps his arm around sammy, "jack should have warned you."
vanessa laughs, "it's okay. you guys are nice."
the boys walk away, leaving vanessa and i. i look down at her with a smile.
"missed you lots, beautiful."
she smiled up at me, "im so happy you're back for a bit."
we decide it would probably best to get going, so i put my luggage in car and step into the passenger side.

she opened the front door to her home, the both of us walking in. immediately i walk to the couch and lay down on it.
"this feels so nice" i state, closing my eyes and taking in the feeling of comfort.
i hear her footsteps walking past me, "i bet it does. do you want anything to eat? to drink?"
my eyes open as i sit up and look at her, "im okay. why, are you hungry?"
she shakes her head, "just thought you might be because of your long flight."
"my excitement took away my appetite" i state with a smile.
she exits the kitchen and walks over to me, sitting near me on the couch, "tell me about everything. how was performing? were you nervous? did you get inspiration for new music?"
i loved how she was as a person. we weren't dating, though she still treats me as if we are. she says i mean a lot to her and she shows me i do. no friend would ask various questions and look at you like you're the only thing that matters. of course, friends will be interested, but she's just so kind and so caring.
"performing was amazing. we had so much fun, especially with how energized all of the crowds were. it was unreal. i wasn't nervous, but i was extremely anxious. we all just wanted to go out there and perform our hearts out, you know. it was an amazing feeling, so surreal. inspiration wise, no. i didn't really think about making new music or anything of that sort. it definitely gave me a feeling where i felt gratitude, i felt thankful" i explain.
as im talking, she has a cute smile placed on her face listening to me, "i don't get it."
my eyebrows pull together, "what don't you get?"
"you. how are you such an amazing person? how are you real?" she says, looking at me with a look that displays her ultimate confusion behind this question.
i chuckle, "this isn't a dream, vans. but hey, look at yourself. you are just as much, or even more, of an amazing person than i am."
as i've probably said already at least ten times, i missed her so much.
