the front door opened and soon shut, voices immediately sounding through the house.
"hey mom" aidan walks in, smiling as he drops his backpack behind the island.
"hi sweetie, how was school?" i ask my son who's growing up to be too tall. he's only fourteen years old and he's my height. unbelievable.
"what's good, sister!" dylan walks in with a smile, placing an envelop on the island counter.
my eyebrows pulled together, "what's that?"
he shrugs, "aidan gave it to me, said his teacher told him to give it to you and jack. anyway, im off to pick up dinner for ashley and i. talk to you later!"
ashley is dylan's wife. they got married a year ago and are still in the honeymoon stage. jack and i laugh about it quite often, but i'd say that jack and i are pretty similar. dylan leaves the house, closing the door as i reach for the envelop sitting on the island.
it's absolutely crazy how life turns out. i ended up being the manager for jack and jack, but released them when they decided to end their music career. quitting the music industry business work, i now find myself working at a local office in omaha. jack and i moved back here when him and johnson decided music wasn't their thing anymore. it was probably when aidan was four i'd say. about ten years ago now.
with aidan being four years old, he was able to finish off senior kindergarten here in omaha. ever since, he's grown up with all of his friends and is now proceeding on with school.
aidan's fourteen years old, in high school, and he's actually the only child we've had. i found out i was pregnant when aidan was only six months old. about a month later, i wasn't feeling well at all and one day found myself leaking blood. various people said it may be natural, but it wasn't. i had experienced a miscarriage. jack and i never tried for another child, being thankful for having aidan. as we got older, we took it as maybe we were only meant to have him and we were okay with that. though, it was extremely difficult. jack missed work, i missed work. we were grieving and trying to decide what to do next.
now, jack is now a vocal coach, assisting people in singing and helping them reach their goals. johnson and him are still the best of friends, but distance does take a toll on them. johnson still lives in los angeles alone. he hasn't found any woman that he has wanted to spend the rest of his life with. none of us have hit our forties yet, but we're approaching them. he's still young enough to find the one for him.
"hey mom?" aidan walks in the kitchen, grabbing an apple out of the fruit bowl, "can landon comes over for a bit?"
i sigh, "aid, your father's going to be home soon. you know he isn't the fondest of landon."
landon is aidan's best friend who isn't the best for aidan. i will admit that, but i have never talked to aidan about it. jack though, he isn't shy with admitting his disliking of the boy. landon has been known to talk about me and to me quite inappropriately, especially since he's a year or two older than aidan. he finds it funny, but jack and i don't in the slightest.
