vanessa thomas

as i sat on jack's bed, i picked up my phone from beside me and saw two new text messages from brandon. my stomach felt like it had twisted into a pretzel the minute i saw his name on my screen.

clicking on the notification, the messages pop up.

brandon
i can't say im sorry for having an opinion, but you're my sister and i don't want to lose you and i don't want you to not be at my wedding
i'll be okay with jack, i should support you guys since you support beth and me. i love you ness

a smile came across my face reading the text message, ultimately being thankful for him finally being realistic.

vanessa
thank you, i love you so much. jack means a lot to me and it would make me happy if you and him got along

taking my phone, i head downstairs to see jack's back muscles greeting me. he was cooking breakfast and dancing around like an idiot. i walk up behind him and kiss his shoulder blade when he is still.

"guess what?" i say, kissing his shoulder once again.

he turns around with a smirk, "what?"

i unlock my phone, showing him the recent text messages between brandon and i.

he looks down at me and passes me my phone, "so what does this mean? do i have to just forget the fact that he had doubts about us? do i forget the fact that he hurt you, made you shut all of us out? do i forget the fact that, that could have been the end of us if you listened to him? do i forget the fact he didn't like me?"

peering up at him, i stare into his eyes, "i mean, no? i don't know, jack. you make me so happy and i just want you and him to get along. if you don't forget, can you at least forgive?"

"what's in it for me?" he asks, "because faking a smile around your brother isn't something that's going to be easy with the thought of him making you upset in my head."

"anything you want" i respond.

he furrows his eyebrows with a smirk, "anything?"

"anything baby."
