Chapter 4

(Nicky/Nicks)

The party was starting in about an hour or so and according to Lucy, everything was on track. I was at home getting ready whilst running my lines for my speech.

"...The Rhymer means a lot to the general public, the up and coming stars, the musicians who've been here from the beginning but are still moving forward and of course, to me. The Rhymer is home to each and every single one of you and home is what it will remain. I don't plan on changing anything soon because if I did, I could never live with myself..."

I was cut off as the buzzer to my apartment rung. It was Bruce, the door man.

"Nicks, the car is here"

"Okay I'll be down in a sec"

I grabbed my purse and my notes for the speech and made my way down to the car waiting for me. I hopped in, and drove off. I just hoped that this party went well.

(Prodigy)

"Prodigy! Prodigy! Over here!" I heard the press shout.

We were walking down the red carpet occasionally stopping to take pictures. In front of us was a sea of flashing lights and screaming fans all here to catch a glimpse of the star studded guests who were arriving at the party.

"WE LOVE YOU!" I heard people scream.

As we made our way into the Southbank Centre, things begun to calm down but it was still very hype like it was outside. In the foyer, we saw everyone who was anyone. From Willow and Jaden to Justin and Selena. From Drake and Nicki Minaj to One Direction and The Wanted. Coldplay, Elle Varner: Everyone. It was a star studded event. The boys and I quickly made our way backstage. We had a show to put on.

(Nicky/Nicks)

I entered The Sunset Pavilion - where the event was taking place - it looked amazing! Blyss had done a great job! The waiters and bar tenders were running around sorting out glasses, plates etc. Lucy hurried to my side.

"Boss, the guests are here"

"Open the doors" I commanded.

One by one, each guest was ushered to their seat and the party began.

~

The lights dimmed and four powerful spotlights beamed onto the stage.

"Hey!" we heard being sung.

"You're the one, the only one, so let me love you" we heard being rapped.

The spotlights rose slightly revealing Mindless Behavior - the guests cheered with glee.

~

The performance came to a close and the band received the best praise any performer could get: a standing ovation. I then made my way onto the stage for my speech.

~

"...The Rhymer means a lot to the general public, the up and coming stars, the musicians who've been here from the beginning but are still moving forward and of course, to me. The Rhymer is home to each and every single one of you and home is what it will remain. I don't plan on changing anything soon because, if I did, I could never live with myself..."

I received heart felt coos and scattered applause.

"...so in conclusion, I would just like to say thank you for making the Rhymer what it is today and: "Remember How Your Music Evolves & Resolves" (R.H.Y.M.E.R)

I received a standing ovation with a rapturous applause. It was good to know that people still cared. Once my speech ended, the party got into full swing.

(Prodigy)

There were people dancing everywhere. Musicians, actors and actresses, important people in the media and even wannabe socialites. There were drinks being passed around and the music was bumping. Heavy bass lines drifted through the pent-house like venue as the hard beats transformed people into monsters on the dance floor. It was amazing but somewhat a little too overwhelming for my liking. I was used to the parties and I liked them however, at times, I needed a bit of a break and some fresh air.

~

I walked out of the party and made my way to the river side where I saw a medium sized woman facing the river with her back towards me: Nicky

I tapped her shoulder.

(Nicky/Nicks)

I decided to get out of the party and get some fresh air. I loved the river side which was part of the reason Blyss booked this place for the party. I stared out onto the Thames admiring the city lights whilst hearing the sirens and engines of passing cars in the background. The cool autumn breeze rustled the leaves of the trees and gently hit my face. It was peaceful, relaxing and a great place to think. I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned around.

"We've really got to stop meeting like this" He said with a cheeky grin.

"Yes, we really do...are you following me?" I asked with a smirk on my face.

"Ha ha. No, I'm not following you. I came to get some air. What are you doing here? You're the hostess of the party shouldn't you be inside?"

"Yeah, I came to clear my head. Being the executive of a big magazine isn't as easy as it looks, Superstar"

"Superstar?" he questioned. "I like that" he flashed me another of his charming smiles.

There was long, comfortable silence.

"Would you like to go out sometime?" He broke the silence.

I was taken aback by his request.

"What? As in like a date?" I laughed at the thought.

"Well no, maybe just for coffee or for a drink, whatever suits you"

I stared at him long and hard trying to figure out his game plan. Was this a joke? Was he doing this to see if the band could get more face time in The Rhymer? No, it couldn't have been any of the above. He was too nice. This was genuine.

(Prodigy)

She stared at me with a quizzical look. I took it as rejection and my face fell.

"Yeah, okay sure...Coffee seems fine"
