Katy's POV

I smiled at the gorgeous white dress that was in front of me. We finally got the house back. Now, here I was, hopping for wedding dresses. I played with the ring on my finger. "Why can't pretty things be cheap?" Alex groaned. Alex was with me, she would be one of my bridesmaids. "We can't choose any bridesmaid dresses until we find out what the main color will be." She said looking at me. "A peachish pink." I replied and she smiled. "Yes!"

I smiled too, looking back at the white dress. She went to were the colorful dresses were. Alex, Jess, and Marcy would be my bridesmaids. Mason would be Ansel's best man.

I ran my fingers against the smooth fabric. "This one!" I heard Alex cry with joy. I looked over at a gorgeous strapless dress that had a cut out flower pattern over top of a smooth fabric. "Lets look at some more first." I giggled and she did too. Alex loved these type of things. She was organizing the wedding. Alex is the best designer I know. I walked over to the bridesmaid dresses with her, I saw a very pretty baby blue dress that was a little puffy on the bottoms of he dress, under the belt and the top (above the belt) had some sparkles. I thought about maybe changing the color. Because this dress was drop dead gorgeous. But, it also seemed like something a teenage girl would wear to prom...

After a while I found a peach dress that was knee length, it was gorgeous. I couldn't decide between four dresses though. So, I decided we would check out some other places. Not all today though. We walked out of the store and got into Alex's car. "Where are we headed next?" She asked curiously pulling out of the parking lot. "The other bridal place down the street." I said looking at my phone. This would be the last place today.

I couldn't believe the text I saw next. It was from Jess. I felt like I was punched in the face when I read it...

'Nanny's dead.'

-

We pulled up to my grandma's house. Jess was sobbing. My Grandma Betty was like Jess's grandma too. I felt tears roll down my face as I ran up and hugged her. She hugged back holding me tightly. We watched as the ambulance drove off. We both cried as we held each other close. Alex had a few tears rolling down her face too.

We pulled her into the hug.

This was the second person or thing to die in the past 6 months. First my baby, now my nanny.

We sat down in the hospital waiting to find out what went wrong. "What happened?" I sniffed tears still rolling down my face.

"I went t-to get s-some coffee for us.. A-and when I came back.. I-I thought she fell asleep." Jess sobbed, some of her words sounded wrong but I let it slide. My nanny had cancer when she was young, and she beat it. Until they found a brain tumor in her. My nanny was important to me. She took care of me for five years, Jess too. Jess lived with us for a while back then.

2 weeks later

Jess's POV

As we stood in the rain, umbrellas above our heads, Katy and I held hands. We both had on black dresses. The man went on and then Mason spoke about Nanny. I was scared about what would happen after this. I loved Nanny to death. She suffered so much.

I rested my head on Katy's shoulder. Nanny took care of us when we needed it.  She was there for us. I watched as Marcy walked over to us and looked up at us. She was an inch shorter than Katy and me, she had a frown on her face. "I-I'm so sorry you two." She said her eyes teary. Nanny was a friend of everyone, she was loved very much and knew just about everybody in town.

"Thank you for coming." Katy said, her voice was scratch from crying. I felt bad for her and as tears rolled down my face I tried to think of happy thoughts.

"Of course." Marcy said. "I'm sorry I left you too."

My eyes flew open. Marcy left two years ago for college, she came back for Katy's wedding.

"It isn't your fault. Marcy, you were living out your dreams. And we are proud of you." I said, she smiled weakly but sighed and a few tears rolled down her pale cheeks. Marcy was nineteen, she graduated young and was a sweet girl. She used to have blonde hair but her natural color was brown which she was back to now. Katy and I have known Marcy for six years, and she has never harmed anyone or anything.

Maybe I'm exaggerating, a little

Alex squeezed my hand, I could hear  her sniffling too. Marcy, Katy, Alex, and I were like the four musketeers. We have all been friends for at least six years. We used to be unstoppable. The four of us, we never frowned in high school. We were always so cheery and fun then. Now we are grown women, we are ore serious and life has become harder.

None of us spoke at the funeral. We were to hurt to do so. I know how hard this was for Katy, but it was hard for me too. I took a deep exhaled in and let it out, closing my eyes for a few seconds. I leaned down and the four of us all stuck our flowers onto Nanny's coffin.

Katy and I headed back to her house while Marcy and Alex went separate ways. When we got there Katy sat down on the curb in the pouring rain, no umbrella or anything, I did the same beside her. "We will make it through this." I whispered just loud enough so she could hear over the rain thudding against everything. "We always do." I reminded her.

She looked at me as rain drops and her tears mixed and ran down her face. "I'm loosing everyone." She sobbed and I pulled her into a sideways hug. "Hey, you still have Ansel, Alex, Marcy, Mason, and me. Plus, all of your other friends." I said. I was trying to stay positive but she was really depressed. I heard a door and let go of Katy to turn around. I watched as Ansel came out of the house and into the rain.

He puck her up bridal style and I watched as she clung to him, her arms wrapping around his neck. I smiled weakly. She had him. Which made her unstoppable. He made her happy. I got into my car and watched as he carried her into the house. Then I left. He would make her feel better, he would make her happy. That was one of his jobs I guess. But, it was still one of mine.

Ansel's POV

I carried Katy bridal style into the house as her wet body kept me close. I shut the front door and sat down on the couch with Katy on my lap. "You're going to get sick boo." I said rubbing my nose in her neck. "I can't let you get sick. You'll be ok. So will Jess."

I kissed her on the lips passionately. She was cold. "Put your arms up." I said and she did. I pulled her shirt up off over her head. Then I unbutton her jeans and pulled them off too. I grabbed a blanket and covered her up. I went into our laundry room and put her dripping clothes into the dryer.

"You didn't have to do that." She said and I noticed she was still shivering. "Yes I do." I said and went into the kitchen to make her some hot coffee. Once the machine beeped I made her favorite the brought it out to her. "Here." I said. "You're freezing. You need to warm yourself back up." She took a sip of the coffee and looked up at me.

"Do you love me?" She asked, l sat down and placed her feet on my lap. "What type of question is that? Of course I love you. I always will." I said. She smiled weakly.

"I love you too." She said and I grinned, sorta. I rubbed her feet. "Are you ok?" I asked and she looked down into her coffee. I knew the answer right away. I knew how hard this was for her, plus all of the other three girls. I sighed and gave her a peck on the forehead and she looked up at me. "Come on." I said. "Lets get you to bed." I went to pick her up bridal style again.

"I know how to walk." She giggled a little.

"I know, but I need to practice." I smirked and she smiled weakly again. I puck her up and carried her up the stairs. Then I sat her down on the bathroom floor instead of the bed. She looked up at me as I stated taking a shower. "We need a hot bath first." I said and she smiled a little.

We climbed in together as the water filled up. I kissed the back of her head as she sat there with me.

I love you more than anything.
