Chapter 13 – The Cats in the Bag
I was walking really fast as soon as I got out of the laboratory. I untied my hair and threw the gloves on the trashcan. I must not miss an opportunity again.
But isn't it too good to be true? It was as if the stars are aligned for us.
I opened it but I frowned when I saw no one in there.
"Are you looking for Ate Blanche?"
Napalingon ako sa babaeng nagsalita. It was Miss Altecia dressed in a red off-shoulder dress with her stilettos. May hawak itong mga papel.
"Yes po," sagot ko. I was surprised that she knows I'm specifically looking for tita. "Do you know where she is?"
"You shall not look for her," sabi ni Miss Altecia. Kumunot ang noo ko sa sinabi niya.
"Bakit?"
"She's nowhere to be found," sagot ni Miss Altecia.
I've heard about her but I never saw her face in pictures. I also got sad upon hearing that her life ended on the day she was born.
What now, Samantha? Anong gagawin mo?
I know I shouldn't rush things but I really want to see Tita Blanche. He doesn't deserve to suffer lalo na't may mas marami pa siyang maitutulong at matutulungan.
"Samantha?" napalingon ako sa tumawag sa akin. It was Natasha. Ngumiti siya sa akin at niyakap ako. "Grabe, parang months na tayong hindi nagkita."
"Sabay tayong nag-hapunan kagabi, Natasha."
"But I still missed you!" sabi niya. Tumawa ako. "How's the research going?"
"It's still complicated but there's a progress," sagot ko. Tumango naman siya.
"That's good! But are you alright? You seem stressed."
"Who wouldn't be?" I answered. She chuckled.
"If you wanna talk about anything, I'm just one call away," sabi ni Natasha. Tumango naman ako. She's just so sweet. "I still have to check on those kids."
"Sure."
I just need to organize my thoughts and the office won't help. I need to go to a place where no one could disturb me.
