"What?" Anna said, choking on her drink. She looked at Klaus like he was crazy, but that didn't mean she didn't want to kiss him too.

"You heard me." Klaus shrugged.

"You can't be serious."

"And if I am?"

"You aren't." She shook her head. "I know you aren't."

"Why wouldn't I be?"

"Because I'm-" Anna began and then was at a loss for words. "I'm ugly. I'm fat. I can't stop eating. I love food."

"Why does any of that have to matter?" Klaus asked her. "Why can't I just like you for you?"

"You've only known me for a month." Anna pointed out.

"Who cares?" Klaus said. "People fall in love with each other even though they've only known each other for a day all of the time."

"That doesn't matter-"

She never got to finish her sentence because an irritated Klaus leaned in and stole her first kiss.

She didn't feel any fireworks like she thought she would. But at the end of the day, that only ever happens in the movies.

"Klaus-" Anna whispered once he pulled back. Their foreheads were touching while they both tried to catch their breath.

"Don't." Klaus said knowing that she was going to say something stupid. Anna pulled back fully so that she could have a good look at him.

"Why?" Anna asked. "Why did you kiss me?"

"Because I knew that it would shut you up." Klaus admitted. "And because I wanted to."

"But-"

"Stop overthinking things." Klaus said taking her face in his hands. Anna looked up at him with her innocent eyes. "You want to know why I like you more than I've ever liked Kim?"

"Who is Kim?" Anna asked, her brow raised in confusion.

"My ex," Klaus answered. "Now stop interrupting me."

Anna nodded.

"It's because you actually give a damn about me." Klaus went on. "We've only known each other for a month and I know that it's crazy to talk about love so soon, but I can see myself falling in love with you. I know that you hate the way that you look and I don't get why, because you are beautiful to me. I want to show you how beautiful that you truly are Anna. Give me a chance to and I promise that I won't let you down."

"Okay." Anna nodded. Klaus smiled and leaned in, kissing her for the second time that night.

Anna didn't know what they were. Maybe they were friends. Maybe they were more. All she knew was that she wanted him. She needed him. He needed her just as much.

Klaus wrapped his arm around Anna while she chose a movie for them to watch. It was getting late and Anna had no clue how he was going to get home.

"My mom's going to pick me up." Klaus answered her unspoken thought.

"Oh." Anna said disappointment that he'd be leaving before the movie ended.

"I want you to meet her." Klaus said. "And don't worry, she's not going to bite your head off."

Thirty minutes later, Klaus's mom pulled into the driveway. Anna felt an uneasiness settle in her stomach at the thought of meeting her crush's mom.

"She'll love you." Klaus said grabbing Anna's hand in his.

"Klaus!" Klaus's mom said getting out of the car to hug him. Klaus already had feeling that she was going to embarrass him.

Anna stared at his mom. She saw where Klaus got his beauty from. Klaus's mom looked over at Anna and then pulled her into a hug.

Anna was caught off guard.

"Mom-" Klaus began.

"I'm sorry." His mom said. "I'm just happy to meet the girl who has made my son happy again. Thank you."

"The pleasure's all mine." Anna smiled.
