"When I said that you and Klaus should get closer, this isn't what I meant." Steve said to Anna two weeks later.

"What do you mean?" Anna asked. "Why can't we be together if it's clear that we make each other happy?"

"Because at the end of the day, neither of you are happy with yourself." Steve pointed out. "And there is no way for you to truly make someone happy unless you make yourself that way first."

"So, are you saying that you want us to break up?" Anna asked.

"That's not what I'm saying." Steve sighed. "I'm just saying that you two need to take it slow."

"And we are." Anna said.

"Not slow enough."

Anna didn't expect this conversation to happen when Steve asked her, and just her, to stay behind after group. She might have thought about it being about her eating habits. Oh boy was she wrong.

"I've already had a talk with Klaus." Steve said. "He clearly cares about you and said that if I think it's best for you to take a break, then he's all for it."

"I don't get why you're bringing this up." Anna said. "Isn't it your job to help set us up on the right track? Being with him feels like I'm slowly getting there."

"And I'm happy that you feel that way Anna, I truly am." Steve patted her shoulder. "But I've already made my decision."

"What decision?" Anna asked.

"I'm swapping Chloe to be your new partner." Steve said. "I saw the way you two interacted over lunch and I liked your chemistry. And I know no relationship besides friendship is going to blossom out of you two."

"What?" Anna shrieked. "It was your brilliant idea putting us together in the first place."

"It was a bad idea."

"I think you're over reacting." Anna said, getting up from her chair.

"Anna-"

She didn't wait for his next words as she stormed out of the room. She couldn't help but want to scream out in frustration. It hurt that he intentionally was trying to ruin her happiness, even if he knew it was for the best. And it hurt even worse that Klaus agreed with him.

"Hey." Klaus said getting up from the bench he was sitting on. He threw out his cigarette and watched Anna as she stormed past him, as if he didn't exist. "Anna, please wait!"

Anna didn't though. She got into her mom's car and they sped off, her mom knowing exactly what happened.

Anna didn't know what heart break felt like until now. She knew that it was somehow in a way childish how she was reacting, but she couldn't help it. She trusted Steve and Klaus. They both ruined that for her.

Hours later, Anna looked down at her phone that had been going off non-stop with calls from Klaus. She had immediately gone to her room when they got home, not eating anything for dinner.

"Anna, can I come in?" Her mom knocked on her door.

"Sure." Anna said sitting up in her bed. Her mom brought her in a bowl of soup with crackers.

"How you feeling?" She asked her.

"Is it stupid that I feel betrayed?" Anna asked. "I thought that he liked me."

"Oh honey, he does."

"Then why would he agree that we should break up?" Anna asked.

"Because he's just looking out for you honey."

Anna wiped the tears out of her eyes and laid back down on her bed.

"I'm tired." Anna said. Her mom nodded and began to leave the room with the soup in her hands. "No, leave that please."

"Okay." She said setting it back down on the beside table. She leaned down and kissed her on the forehead. "He stopped by an hour or so ago. Anna, please answer his calls."

She didn't listen to her mom.
