Robin made her way to the dungeons, furiously wiping the tears from her eyes. She stormed around, ignoring the whispers and concerned looks the students of Hogwarts were giving her. She made her way through twisted corridors, listening to every word they said.
"I bet she got rejected by Lucius Malfoy." one student said.
"No, I bet the Dark Lord killed one of her family members after he joined her." another one whispered.
"I know what happened." The gossip queen, Diana Dean, said to her friends, with a large smirk plastered on her pale face. "And it will be up in the Great Hall tomorrow. Just you wait."
Robin cursed under her breath and continued making her way down to her dorm. She walked past the Great Hall, before realising dinner would be served in an hour. She was starving, and couldn't possibly show up to dinner without the entire world knowing. She made her way to the place where she would feel the most comfortable. Sadly, that wasn't her dorm.
"Hello, Miss White!"
"Hello, Hookey. Could you make me some hot chocolate, please?" she asked in the most polite way possible. Her parents may not have been supporters of muggle-born, but they did believe that house elves should be treated well.
"Yes, Miss White."
She sat on one of the small sofa chairs and waited only for a few seconds before a house elf scrambled over to her with a drink in hand.
"Thank you." she said quietly.
She stayed there, drinking her hot chocolate for God knows how long before she saw someone enter and converse with the house elves. She would recognise that fiery red hair anywhere, and when Lily Evans' green eyes locked with Robin's blue ones, they were put into a trance. Of course, Lily was the first one to get herself out of it.
"So... Is it true? That you and James..." she trailed off.
"We kissed once. I don't think he meant it. But we got into an argument because I did something I regret."
"No surprise there..." Lily said accusingly.
"You know, I'm not that bad."
"Oh really? Then tell me everything. Every last detail. I'm sure by the end of it I'll have changed my mind."
Robin knew Lily wasn't the perfect person to confide in, but Lily was better than the girls in Slytherin. She listened, she didn't judge, and she wasn't a follower of the Dark Lord. It was all Robin could have ever hoped for.
And, by the end of it, Robin had made herself a new friendship with Lily Evans.
But friendships never last.
