"Shit," I whispered. He wasn't here for me, was he? I quickly made my way to the stairs and climbed three floors in a matter of seconds.

Panting, I opened the door to the hallway, and there he was, pacing in front of my door. He lifted his hand to knock, then brought it back down. Running his hand through his hair, he took a step backward. Then, one forward.
