the first impression.

two weeks ago if someone would have told veronica that she was going to make it to the last interview out of three to become a celebrity's assistant, she would have told you that you were lying. she only went on the first interview as a dare from her best friend, claire. claire bet that veronica would never do it, since veronica does not like interviews or most celebrities. another thing that veronica doesn't like is losing bets. so here she is, walking into her last interview. it was between her and only one other person now.

veronica had no clue what she was walking into.

there sitting at a long table was simon, the man who interviewed her the first time, mark, the man who interviewed her the second time, then tyler joseph and josh dun themselves. she walked in the otherwise empty room, her heels making noise with every step. she was met with eight eyes the second her first heel hit the marble floor, but she kept her gaze down. well, until she was forced to look up when she was greeted with an excited "hello veronica!" from mark eshleman himself. mark had been giving hints to the boys that veronica is who he wanted for the position.

she took in a deep breath and plastered a smile to her face, looking up. "hello mark, it's great to see you again!" she approached the table and extended her hand to shake mark's, and then simon's. "simon, nice to see you again as well."

simon smiled and politely shook her hand, "we've been so excited for this last interview with you. here, you can meet the boys." simon gestured to the other two boys sitting at the table.

the one with dyed hair stood up first, "hi there veronica, i'm josh. it's nice to meet you, i've heard so much about you!" he smiled a perfect smile and extended his hand. veronica shifted her weight onto one foot and leaned in to shake his hand.

"nice to meet you too, josh. and likewise, mark here never shut up about how great you guys are!" she joked, hoping it wasn't too far and they caught on to her joke. everyone caught on and everyone chuckled. josh sat back down and the other boy replaced him.

"that's because mark is in love with us," he paused to touch his heart in a joking way. "i'm tyler, it's nice to meet you veronica." he smiled without showing teeth and extended his hand for veronica to shake.

"please take a seat and we'll move forward with the interview." simon said, bringing the necessary seriousness back into the atmosphere.

simon continued on to ask veronica some questions about what she wanted to get from the position, how she planned to be available for the boys in the future, and more. veronica answered with ease for every question, whether she actually had an answer or came up with one on the spot.

tyler watched her intently. he wanted to make sure there wasn't anything 'off' about her. he wanted to see how she carried herself when she was speaking.

he never found anything that made him feel like she wasn't the one.

in fact, he didn't even want to see the other person up against her.

the second veronica left, he consulted with josh and they had the same thoughts.

her first impression was perfect. her first impression is what got her hired.

three days later when veronica got a phone call from simon and heard the news, she was jumping up and down with claire. they were both so excited for the 20 year old college dropout to have such a special and exciting job.

veronica couldn't have asked for anything better. she has a full time job, paying about $300,000 a year (considering she is an assistant for two celebrities). she gets to travel the world with two really cool guys plus an entire crew of great people. she gets one day off to herself a week. she basically works off of her phone, which she got a brand new one provided from tyler and josh along with a brand new macbook, a passport, a business credit card, and anything else she may need in order to get her job done. she gets to spend almost every night at their concerts, dancing around with crew members or josh dun's amazing girlfriend, debby ryan.

she literally could not have signed up for a better job.

what she didn't know she was signing up for was the lack of personal space, missing her friends and family back home in boston, and a proper night's sleep in a bed that wasn't a twin on a moving tour bus. she didn't sign up for the late nights she'd spend with tyler, trying to calm him down in the middle of a panic attack. she didn't sign up for the damage control she would need to have set in place within the snap of fingers if anything went wrong. she didn't sign up for holidays in different countries without her loved ones. she didn't sign up for a job that caused her to work 16-20 hours a day, 6 days a week. she didn't sign up for the days she would have to go without a proper meal, learning now to always pack granola bars for herself. she didn't sign up for the headaches she would get from the loudness of the concerts every night, causing her to get frequent ear infections. she didn't sign up for no personal life. she didn't sign up to be josh and debby's couples therapist. and lastly, she didn't sign up for falling in love.
