as tyler sat in his bed trying to keep his focus on the tv, veronica and colin were making their way up to her hotel room. tyler tried his hardest to keep distracted, he really did not want to think about the fact that veronica was hooking up with another guy right across the hall from him. he didn't want her to do it, but he can't do anything about it. josh and mark left to go to dinner, but he couldn't bring himself to leave. what if veronica actually needs something? he needs to be there.
"yeah, thank you again for dinner. it was really fun." veronica said, smiling at colin. she actually genuinely had a great time. colin is the sweetest person, truly a gentleman.
"of course. i'm glad we could finally meet. claire never shuts up about you!" colin chuckled as they approached her door.
"well, this is me. come on in, yeah?" veronica asked him, reaching for her key in her back pocket.
"actually, i'm gonna head out. i just- i don't want to do something in there that i regret, you know?" colin said, proving yet again what a gentleman he is.
veronica side smiled, "you sure? it's all good to come in. i promise."
colin sensed the small hint of desperation in her voice and decided to be honest, "veronica, i don't want to hook up. you deserve better than a hook up. plus, no offense... but you remind me way too much of claire. i couldn't sleep with you. but i'd love to be friends."
veronica was shocked that he was that honest, but she respected it. "oh, okay. thank you for everything tonight colin, have a great night!" she said, leaning into his outstretched arms for a hug goodbye. she watched as he turned and walked down the hallway after a quick 'nice to meet you, text me!' she let herself in the room and threw herself on the bed. of course this would happen, she thought, why wouldn't it?
tyler had exited his shower just in time to hear veronica's hotel door close. he wasn't able to hear veronica and colin's last conversation before he left. his curiosity, jealousy, and protectiveness got the best of him as he pulled out his phone to text her.
veronica, even though she had rejection tears streaming down her face, was fully prepared to pull her phone out and update claire on the situation but she had a new message from tyler that distracted her from doing that.
everything going okay?
no, come here. please.
tyler swore he has never rushed to get somewhere so fast, he didn't even throw a shirt on or shoes. he was just in his basketball shorts with his room key and phone in hand as he frantically knocked on veronica's door repeatedly. she swung the door open to reveal her same outfit that she wore on the date (^^ pictured above). the first thing he noticed was her tear stained face and immediately pulled her into a bone-crushing hug. she hugged back and let more tears fall, landing themselves on his shirtless shoulder. without letting go of her, he backed them up and shut the door. he moved them to her bed so that they could sit on the edge of it. "what happened, ronnie?" he finally asked.
"he-he didn't want me. like, at all." she said, wiping her face with the back of her hand and detaching herself from his shoulder. she also reached up and wiped her tears off his bare shoulder which caused him to chuckle and her to smile for the first time.
"then he's stupid." he said truthfully. he wasn't sure how any guy in the whole word wouldn't want her. "what did he say exactly?"
veronica scoffed and looked up to avoid more stupid tears, "he said i deserve more than a hookup. and that i remind him too much of claire, who is his cousin, he didn't want to sleep with me. or anything to do with me at all."
