"Is that all?" Peter asked, looking towards Nova's direction. The girl slightly nodded, putting the box she had in her hand on the bed she once owned.
"Do you really need to go?" Peter asked, taking a seat on his chair. Nova sighed, looking towards the other direction. This was the moment that she was dreading to happen; their goodbyes. Peter had a huge spot in her heart, and she couldn't just leave her family back in New York all of a sudden.
"I need to live with my real parents, Peter." she stated. Peter bit his lip for a bit, trying to stop the tears that were about to come from his eyes. Nova was the only girl that he really cared for, aside from May. The feeling of not being able to see her for a long time kind of crushed him. "But you'll visit, right?"
Nova snorted, causing Peter to laugh a little. "Of course I'll visit! Like once a week or so, depending if my parents are really strict." This gave Peter a huge sense of relief. He handled a few weeks of not talking to her because of her father's death; he was positive that he could handle just one week.
"And I'll call. If I'm not busy. They enrolled me in another science high school." Nova groaned. "I'm not even smart, my head will explode in there."
"It's just... I'm going to miss you." Peter muttered, looking at her direction.
Nova looked at her best friend in sympathy. All those moments suddenly flashed through her mind like a powerpoint presentation; when they stopped the bad guys in New York, when he would help her with the topics she didn't understand, or when he always assured her that everything was going to be okay after her father had died.
"I'll miss you too." Nova gave Peter a tight smile before her door suddenly opened, revealing Tony. "So, your flight leaves in two hours." he stated, looking at his watch. "I'm just going to give you a souvenir before you leave." he stated, starting to make his way to both Nova and Peter.
He took out two phones he got from his bag and gave one to both Nova and Peter. "I programmed these phones, so they come pre-loaded with internet connection wherever you go, data, and free calls." he stated. "I know you two are going to miss each other, a lot. So I made these for the two of you."
Nova gave him a grateful smile before realizing that she would definitely miss Tony. He was the whole reason that she had found her true parents, he had let her live in his home, and had done so much unimaginable things for her.
"Thank you, Mr. Stark." she smiled, putting the phone inside her backpack. "Yep. Thank you Mr. Stark." Peter also said.
"I'm going to miss you, Mr. Stark." she smiled. "Thank you for everything. Can I visit sometime?"
"Of course you can. Now go to the airport so you wont miss your flight."
-
Peter stood beside Nova as they were weighing her baggage. After the process, they stood together and ate at a restaurant for a few minutes, since her flight wouldn't leave in an hour or so.
"I really don't understand why I need an airplane. I can run towards Australia. It can save money." she complained while taking another bite out of the burger she ordered. Peter agreed to her statement, taking another bite of his own.
"Since when did you start running towards other countries?" he asked, taking another chump of his burger. Nova started to think ; when did she start? She had been doing the same thing all over again, so she couldn't really remember when it first started.
"When I was thirteen. I think?" she guessed. "Do you want me to go to France right now and get you a croissant or something?" she questioned, standing up. Peter started laughing and forced her to sit back down. "No Nova. Do not do that."
-
"So. Bye, I guess?" Nova questioned, looking at Peter. Peter had an unreadable expression plastered on his face. "Yeah. Bye. I guess. Take care." he spoke out. Nova nodded before starting to make her way towards the airplane.
After a few minutes of waiting, the plane started to move. Nova sighed and started to listen to some music on her walkman, which used to belong to her father. She was once ridiculed for owning a walkman by Flash, but nevertheless, she didn't care about it.
She started to think of Peter, for some unknown reason. Their conversations popped into her head, and Nova felt her cheeks going a bit red.
Nova's eyes sprung open, since she had just realized something. What she thought was impossible happened, and what she dreaded to happen happened.
"Holy shit, I like Peter!"
