"Bonjour Mademoiselle. It's me, Abby.", she said. "What do you want?" "I can tell by your looks that you want to steal my man. Guess what, you will never, ever get him.", she yelled. Yet she was smiling. A fake smile that I knew so well.

"No one will ever love you. I mean, look at you. Scum of the street!", she added. "You know what? You're right. But that's okay because I love myself.", I said shrugging. I gave her one last fake smile and closed the door.

I was smiling on the outside but breaking on the inside.

A week has passed since I last saw Enjolras. He was constantly on my mind, although he hurt me. I have begun to wonder, why he told me he loved me, although he was in a relationship. So why couldn't I forget him? I must admit, it hurt a lot. She was beautiful and everything I wasn't.

I was aware that I loved him. But I had to move on, otherwise, I would be like Madame de Géroux. Madame de Géroux was a lovely lady. She had taken care of young boys and girls, who were living in the streets. She gave them shelter. But the problem was, Madame de Géroux never admitted that she loved Monsieur Colbert.

Everyone knew about it. Unfortunately, Monsieur Colbert died, by saving children from a falling cart. He was a hero because I was one of those children. Madame de Géroux ended up marrying a man, who had no interest in her. He preferred the company of young men.

I felt bad for her. Sometimes I would even think about how good I had it in life. I was able to live a good life, more or less. I mean, it had some rough paths but I can't complain. I gave Enjolras insights into my life. I was so foolish to trust him!

"Clara here's someone who wants to see you.", Eponine said. I got up from my mattress and walked to the door. "What do you want?", I asked. "Can we talk?", he asked. I shrugged. I stepped outside.

"Talk.", I commanded. "I am sorry." "For not telling me that you have a girlfriend or for leading me on?", I asked. My heart shattered when I said that. "I love you." "You don't! You don't love me.", I yelled.

"Clara, listen." "No, you listen. You can treat me like an object. You can try to put me down. But I will get back up again. And I will never fall for your lies again.", I said. I ended the conversation and went back inside. I shut the door and I could hear him begging.

I wasn't going to play his stupid game anymore.

"Will you tell me what happened?", Eponine asked. "He has a girlfriend." "Who?" "Enjolras. He has a girlfriend. And he told me he loved me.", I said crying. "What's her name?" "Abby. And do you know what's the worst thing? She's beautiful and I am the scum of the street.", I said.

"You know what? I will go to the blonde idiot and give him a piece of my mind!", Eponine declared. "No, forget it. I am not worthy enough." "I can't let him ruin you like this. All your self-confidence, it's gone." "It's because I trusted him. I opened up to him.", I said.

"Why can't there be any happy endings?", I asked. "Because they don't exist. Maybe it's best to forget him. He hurt you. And I will not watch him destroy you like this. I will go to Courfeyrac. Tell him about it." "No, Eponine don't. This is my battle." "I know. But Courfeyrac is his best friend. Maybe he can talk some sense into him."

"I rejected him earlier. I don't want to see him here again.", I said. "I'll tell him that."

I had to go to the Café. Gavroche forgot something and begged me to go. If you ask me, I think he wanted me to encounter Enjolras. But I'll do anything for my brother. I stepped up the familiar stairs. The last time I was here, I stormed out.

I reached the door but heard voices. "If you really loved her, then you wouldn't do this. She's heartbroken. If you don't apologize properly to Clara, then you won't have a group called Les Amis, it will be called Less Amis.", Courfeyrac threatened. "She doesn't want to hear an apology.", Enjolras answered.

"Well guess why. If I loved you and you'd pull the same thing on me, I'd spit on you." "Thanks for your honesty, Courf.", Enjolras remarked sarcastically. I opened the door. Both boys looked at me. "I am sorry, Gavroche forgot something." "Clara, I am so sorry." "I know. You've said it a few times. Still. It won't make me feel better.", I said.

I left Café fast. This situation escalated. I shouldn't have told anyone about it in the first place. Now Courfeyrac threatened his best friend. And it was all my fault.

(a/n: this chapter is pretty depressing. I'll post another update tonight and I'll promise it will be a much happier one.)
