Weeks have passed after my conversation with Enjolras. I was mistaken. Enjolras wasn't only egoistic but he also had a soft side. A side that I preferred much more over the harsh one. It was a beautiful June afternoon. The sun was shining and the kids were laughing.

Enjolras ran up to me. "Enjolras, what's going on?" "I need your help.", he begged. "How can I help?" "Do you see those girls? They aren't leaving me alone." "Okay, so what should I do?" "Please forgive me for what I am doing." But before I asked what was going on, he pulled me closer and kissed me.

I heard the disappointment from those girls. I pushed him away. "What is wrong with you? I am not a toy." "I know. And I'm sorry Clara, I really am." "Oh shut up. You're not. Who taught you to treat young women like this?", I yelled. Before he answered, I sighed and left him standing in the middle of the street.

"Clara, please wait up!", he yelled after me. But it was too late. I was gone.

I went to the meeting because Gavroche wanted me to. At first, I declined but this incident wasn't going to ruin my day. I told Eponine everything and she was mad. We stepped inside the large meeting room and Enjolras still wasn't here.

"Pardon me for my lateness." Eponine rushed over to the blonde leader and slapped him. I gasped. "This is for what you did to my sister.", she said. She walked back and sat down next to me. The boys looked at us and I really wanted to disappear.

Enjolras also had his eyes fixed on me. I felt the stares on my back until I couldn't take it anymore. I jumped out of my seat and ran down the stairs of the Café. I needed to get out here. I ran to the back of the Café and took a deep breath. This was embarrassing.

I leaned back at the wall of the Café. I heard someone call my name. Great, now I caused a scene in the Café too. "Clara. Are you alright?", Feuilly asked. "I guess I am. It's just embarrassing what just happened. I didn't expect Eponine to slap him." "What happened that your sister slapped him in the first place?" "It's complicated. Very complicated."

"Are you coming back inside?", he asked. "No, I just go home. I am tired." "I'll escort you home. I don't want you to get hurt again." "Thanks, Feuilly.", I said.

Feuilly took me home. I was just so tired of thinking, of being me. I needed a rest. I would dream of a life that was worth living. Parents that loved me and supported me. A man who loved me. Unfortunately, it was only a dream. No man would ever love me. My parents have told me a lot about it.

They promised that I would never find a man who loved me. He would use me for one thing but nothing else. I guess they were right. I lied awake on my mattress. The silence was beautiful. No screaming, no crying. Nothing. Just silence.

I was cold as usual. My blanket wasn't very thick. It was comfortable during summer, but barley kept me warm during winter. I looked around the small house. The ceiling wasn't waterproof. The only two doors we had, were creaking. The floor was creaking as well. I had stains from the rain and from the dirt. Our mattresses were separated by old curtains that had holes.

I heard the door open and Eponine stood in the doorway. "Feuilly told me you went home. I am sorry for losing my temper. But he deserved it. For the way he treated you." "He didn't treat me bad. He asked if I could help him. And I said yes.", I explained. "But still. I am worried about you Clara. I understand that you're scared of Montparnasse. I am too."

"But we need to continue our life as if nothing happened.", I finished. "Clara. I am sorry." "Don't worry. But I have to go and apologize to Enjolras." "For?" "Something. I have left without giving him notice. He doesn't like that.", I said. Then I walked into the dark streets of Paris.

I ran to the Café, first to catch Enjolras, second to be safe. I stepped inside the Café. I was soaked through. Raindrops were dripping off my hair. I walked upstairs. "Bonsoir Mademoiselle." "Can you stop being formal? I am Clara to you." "I know. I must apologize.", we said in unison.

"You first.", he said. "I must apologize for leaving without telling you. I know you hate that. Also for the slap." "I deserved though.", he said. "It's your turn." "I must apologize for the kiss. I don't know what I was thinking." "Don't worry. It's fine." "It's not. I shouldn't treat you like this. You don't deserve it. I shouldn't have done it."

I stepped closer. "It's fine. I accept your apology.", I said with a smile. He smiled back. He sat back down. "I have to tell you something.", he said, "you better sit down."

(a/n: can anyone guess what he wants to say to her???)
