Feet thumping along the ground, I ran. The forest whizzed past me, the trees melting into a blur. Each breath rattled in my throat, my pounding heart echoing in my ears. All I could think of was the blind terror that seized me, influencing my every move. My sharp hearing picked up four sets of footsteps behind me, steadily catching up.

Somehow, I sensed one of the people behind me pulling out a gun. As the trigger was pulled, things seemed to move in slow motion. I dodged, twisting out of the way, then hissing in pain as the bullet grazed my leg. I moved out of the way as my four pursuers shouted for backup.

Crawling away quietly as I could, I found a small glade. At least in this area of the woods, the leafy canopy wouldn't stand in my way for escape. I stared up at the starry night sky, seeing the stars twinkling down on me.

I took a deep breath, preparing myself for all the energy this would consume. After the experiments with the mind stone, the scientists told me I could control energy with my mind, as well as turn invisible, have an accelerated healing rate, and heightened senses.

Imma be honest. After the years cooped up in a cell, having the scientists prodding and poking me every few seconds, being watched like a lab rat, my initial thought was, "Cool," Then, I'm pretty sure I promptly passed out.

You'd think after getting my powers I would be able to leave on my own. I mean, telekinesis, heightened senses, super healing, and invisibility? Though it was nothing compared to other subjects like the Winter Soldier, or the others I'd heard of, like Quicksilver or the Scarlet Witch, it seemed like a pretty decent deal at the time. Theoretically, I could bust a wall and leave, right? Well, no. That's exactly what the scientists were afraid of. I had an ankle cuff on, 24/7, only disabled for five hours a day. Those five hours should've been enough for me to plan an escape, but those hours were for training.

I was brought to a secure gym, filled with training equipment and instructors. For extra caution, there were guards posted at every exit, with more milling all over the place. I had about eleven or twelve guns trained on me each session. I didn't dare try anything.

Looking around the woods to make sure I wasn't spotted, I willed myself to turn visible. I positioned myself, taking a deep breath. A familiar feeling of power coursed through my body, filling my veins, surging through me like blood. Bursts of blue energy shot from my fingertips, propelling me upwards. There were shouts of confusion, accompanied by the sounds of shots firing into the night.

FIghting against gravity, I strained, trying to go higher. Blue tendrils snaked across my hands, wrapping around my wrists and forearms like bracelets made of pure energy. I focused on maintaining my level, going faster and faster. In seconds, I would be gone; Like a spirit.

"Spirit," I thought. "Sapphire Spirit. I like that."

In a few short seconds, I was out of sight. I flew off, leaving behind the soldiers and scientists that had made my life a living hell; Leaving behind HYDRA.
