Steve, in full uniform, strode through the underpass, then jogged onto the private runway, heading for a grounded chopper. I followed, also in uniform.
I wore a fitted white shirt and matching skirt, and a blue, sleeveless cardigan came down to my knees, kinda like the length of Wanda's jacket. Instead of sneakers I wore black lace up combat boots, my hair thrown into a high ponytail.
We were getting close when an electro disabler slammed onto the chopper. Steve stopped, me almost barreling into him. We looked up to see Iron Man and War Machine descending.
"Wow, it's so weird how you run into people at the airport." Tony commented, flipping his faceplate up. "Don't you think that's weird?"
"Definitely weird." Rhodey agreed.
"Hear me out, Tony." Steve tried. "That doctor, the psychiatrist, he's behind all of this."
A shape leapt over a truck. "Captain." Black Panther nodded.
"Your highness."
"Anyway, Ross gave me 36 hours to bring you in. That was 24 hours ago." Tony said. "Can you help a brother out?"
"You're after the wrong guy." I spoke up.
"Your judgment is askew. Your old war buddy killed innocent people yesterday."
"And there are five more super soldiers just like him." Steve said. "I can't let the doctor find them first, Tony. I can't."
"Steve..." Natasha walked up to us. "You know what's about to happen. Do you really wanna punch your way out of this one?"
We were silent for a few seconds while Steve contemplated.
"All right, I've run out of patience." Tony said. He raised his hands as a makeshift megaphone. "Underoos!"
Out of nowhere, a string of webbing came out and stuck to Steve's shield, pulling it away. In the same second, the same substance bound Steve's hands.
"Nice work, kid!" Tony called.
The figure was wearing a skin-tight onesie, kind of like Natasha's SHIELD uniform. The outfit was red and blue, with black, web-like designs all over. The emblem of a spider was embroidered in the middle of his chest. A mask covered his face, with two white eye holes.
I looked from the webbing around Steve's hands to his outfit; Was this kid some sort of... Spiderling? Spider-Boy?
"Thanks." The kid said. He sounded no more than fifteen; My age. "Well, I could've stuck the landing a little better. It's just the new suit..." He rambled. "Well, it's nothing, Mr. Stark. It's-It's perfect. Thank you."
"Yeah, we don't really need to start a conversation." Tony said.
"Okay. Cap... Captain." The kids saluted Steve. "Big fan, Spider-Man."
So he was a spider superhero.
"Yeah, we'll talk about it later." Tony tried to stop him. "Just..."
"Hey, everyone." He waved.
"... good job." Tony finished weakly.
Steve studied the new recruit. "You've been busy."
"And you've been a complete idiot. Dragging in Clint. 'Rescuing' Wanda from a place she doesn't even want to leave, a safe place. And bringing Chloe along," He gestured at me.
"Tony."
He looked at me expectantly.
"I made the decision not to sign the Accordson my own. I'll follow through with whatever consequences the government sees fit."
