Beth's POV
I sat quietly on the ride home, still flushed red from embarrassment. Niall seemed to notice.
"You ok?" He asked worriedly, "It'll be fine, I promise. I'll make him delete it."
"I just wonder how long he was there for." I laughed, "But I have realised something now though."
"What's that now, princess?" He grinned,
"I don't mind getting stuck in a lift with you." I giggled, "But don't get any ideas." I quickly warned him, watching the smirk grow on his face from my admission.
"Well I won't do it again soon, I'll find something else though, don't worry." He winked at me through the mirror, making me laugh.
Once we arrived at home, he said we could have some kind of rekindling movie night or something, saying that he would go and get the film and snacks ready. The door bell went as soon as he had finished talking to me, and he looked at me as if he had down something wrong.
"What's the matter?" I asked, sitting cross-legged on the sofa as I watched him intently.
"Nothing I just didn't think anyone would visit now." I said, shiftily walking out of the room to answer the door.
I tried to listen carefully to what they were saying, but they were speaking really quietly, obviously talking about something they didn't want me to hear. Again. For like the hundredth time this month. I heard someone laugh and it sounded like Harry, before Niall promptly 'shushed' him. I heard something about 'not yet' and 'just give us a few more hours' and then something about Tamsin, but again, I'm not sure what.
As soon as I heard the door shut, I sat up awaiting Niall's return, and when he did, he looked flustered.
"Who was that?" I cocked my head to one side slightly,
"Just Harry, just Harry." He breathed,
"No, just Harry, you are a wizard!" I laughed, Niall joining in once he realised what I was talking about.
"Well what did he want?" I asked, after I had stopped laughing.
"Stuff...things." He murmured, "I was getting snacks." He tried to leave again but I grabbed his arm before he could, pulling him back down beside me.
"Oh no you don't." I smiled, "Explain."
"I'll tell you later, just let's watch the film, then I'll explain." He pleaded, gripping my hands tightly.
"Fine." I huffed, making Niall laugh.
"Good girl." He chuckled, "Doritos or popcorn?"
---
A few hours after our little screening of "The Heat", the doorbell rang again, and me and Niall looked at each other, as if to say, "I'm going to get there first.".
We both leapt up, sprinting for the door, but Niall slipping because he was wearing socks, and socks and wooden floor don't go well when you want to turn sharp corners.
I managed to get to the door first, swinging it open to reveal a rather startled Harry and Tamsin, holding something behind his back. Tamsin was standing next to him, also trying to conceal what he was hiding.
"Hey..." Tamsin said, "Where's Niall?"
"Inside." I grinned, "On the floor."
"Why?"
"We had a race to the door and he slipped."
Right on cue, he came dashing around the corner, steadying himself with both hands on either side of the doorframe, looking a bit out of breath.
"You got the..." He asked, gesturing towards them.
"Yeah but..." Harry nodded towards me.
I looked at him and gasped in mock offense.
"Well if that's how you feel then fine!" I laughed, backing away into the living room again.
"Just go and sit on the bed." Niall chuckled, pointing up the stairs before turning back to Harry.
I sighed, stomping up the stairs like a child, making Harry laugh. I patiently sat on the bed, still failing to hear exactly what was being said downstairs. Once I heard Niall see bye to them both, and the door close, I waiting for him to come up the stairs to find me. And when he did, I swear I've never been more intrigued and what he had to say.
He came into the room, still holding something behind his back. Again with the hiding!
"So...what you got there, Niall?" I smiled, trying to lean to the side and see what he was holding, to no avail.
"You how you said you loved cats?" He smirked,
"Yeah?" I said, getting even more excited.
"Well it's not a cat."
"Oh."
"It's a kitten!"
I gasped as he showed me the most beautiful tabby kitten I had possibly ever seen. It mewed as it saw me, its white lined eyes barely open. It had little white socks, where its claws came out as it reached towards me.
I extended an arm towards Niall, and he carefully gave the kitten to me, smiling at the look on my face, probably a mixture of 'aw' and 'OMG A KITTEH'.
"His name's Jack" Niall said quietly, stroking over its head with his index finger ever so gently. "Short for Blackjack."
"Why Blackjack?"
"Look at the mark on the back of his neck."
Sure enough, on the back of his neck, there was a black spot that looked like the 'clubs' sign that you get on packs of cards.
"How old is he?"
"7 weeks." He smiled, "Harry knew a guy."
"Harry the cat guy." I chuckled, affectionately stroking from the kittens head down his back.
"Think of it as a late birthday present." He said, "He was too young to buy on your birthday, but the man made an exception a week earlier, cos Harry."
"I love him, he's so cute!" I gushed, stroking over his ears.
"Not as cute as me though." Niall laughed,
"Not as cute as you, Niall. Of course not." I chuckled, "You have to stop buying me presents, I swear to god you’re wasting your money away."
"Do you like the presents?"
"Yeah, of course."
"Then it's not a waste." He grinned, "You're worth spending money on."
"You just keep on surprising me, don't you?" I smiled.
"You love me for it."
"I do indeed."
"I love you, Beth." He said, sitting down next to me and kissing my cheek.
"Love you too, Niall." I leaned my head on his shoulder, gently stroking the kitten as it fell asleep on my lap.
