Lucy's POV
Finn had been telling me how long he had had this planned out for, and how excited he was to show me. Although he had expressed his nervousness for my reaction, he hadn't actually told me what he had done. He had driven us to the outskirts of the city, and there were fewer cars darting about than in the centre. He held the steering wheel so tightly that his knuckles had gone white.
"Are you ok?" I laughed, "You seem a bit stressed out."
"Yeah, I'm just scared that you won't like it." He muttered.
"If you've done it for me, I can assure you I'll love it." I smiled,
He stayed silent as he pulled up outside of a tall office building. All the lights were off, and I don't see how he planned on getting us in, but I suppose I just have to trust him on this one. He got out of the car before coming around to my side and opening the door for me. He took my hand and led me to the front door. He pulled his keys out of his pocket to unlock the door, but for some reason, didn't turn the lights on when we got in.
In fact he didn't speak at all as I followed him to the lifts. He pressed the button for the top floor and smiled shyly when I looked to him for an explaination.
"Nearly there..." He muttered to himself.
"I'm excited." I said, smiling to myself,
"Jack helped me with this." He mumbled, "The whole thing was my idea but he added things to it."
The lift 'dinged' as it stopped at the top floor, Finn stepping out first when the doors opened. I was still a bit skeptical as to what he had planned, since he seemed so worried about it.
We were on the top floor of the building, and it must've been at least 20 storeys up. Now I'm not afraid of heights or anything, but that was a hell of a long way up.
He took me to a set of stairs you never would have seen normally, as they were hidden around a corner. You could only find them if you had known they were there.
He stopped before a rusty metal door that I assumed led to the roof, before holding my hands to tell me something.
"I just wanted to tell you why I had done this before we go out there." He said, "I love you so much, Lucy. I love you more than you could even understand. You're so perfect to me, and I feel so lucky that you feel the same way about me."
"I do, Finn" I smiled, squeezing his hands reassuringly, "I love you so much."
I hugged him lovingly, before he took a deep breath, opening the door.
Infront of us, was a pathway of candles leading up to a picnic rug that was decorated with candles. For some reason it wasn't to windy tonight, which made the flames in the candles slightly bend over, but not go out. On the rug itself, was a wicker basket, and a little note held down by a box sat in the middle.
I smiled giddily, before I looked to him for an explaination, to which he simply nodded his head towards it, gesturing for me to go and have a look at it. I knelt down in front of it as he sat down opposite me, waiting for me to see what he had written. I picked up the box and placed it in my lap as I took the note and unfolded it.
To My True Love, Lucy,
A million stars up in the sky
one shines brighter I can't deny
A love so precious a love so true
a love that comes from me to you
The angels sing when you are near
within your arms I have nothing to fear
You always know just what to say
just talking to you makes my day
I love you honey with all of my heart
together forever and never to part.
I love you forever,
Finn xx
I started crying once I had finished reading, only to be comforted by Finn who hugged me caringly.
"I swear you'll be the death of me!" I choked through my sobs, "You're so sweet, Finn!"
"You haven't even seen what's in the box yet." He chuckled, he seemed proud of himself that he had managed to get me to cry already.
I shakily picked up the dark purple box that I had set down in my lap a few moments ago. I carefully opened it, to reveal a beautiful ring. It had 'Lucy and Finn, Forever' engraved into the top, along with love hearts either end of the message.
Now if I wasn't crying before, I was definately crying now. Finn took my hand and put it on my hand. I couldn't help bu think it was like we were getting married, but of course we were a bit too young for that (not that I would turn him down if the oppurtunity arose).
We sat there in each others arms for another few minutes, whilst I calmed myself down from my little freakout. After I had, Finn smirked as he turned to his left and opened the basket and pulled out two things wrapped up in foil.
"Now, I believe we have food to eat." He laughed, throwing me one.
I opened it to find chocolate cake. I looked up to see him smiling proudly, of course he made chocolate cake.
"Homemade?" I raised an eyebrow at him,
"Certainly." He nodded,
"Good, your cake is the best." I said, "But watching you cook is better."
"Why's that?" He frowned, eating bits of his slice of cake.
"Cos when I watched you for the first time, you spilt the stuff all over yourself." I giggled at the memory.
"Oh yeah?" He laughed, "Well if I recall correctly, when you made pancakes before, you threw it so high that it stuck to the ceiling."
"Well they were still amazing." I laughed,
We ate in silence for the rest of the time, occassionally looking over at the beautiful city below us that we could so easily see from where we were. This is why he's so amazing. He won't stop trying to show me how much he loves me.
I always said to him,
"True Love Never Dies, It Only Get's Stronger With Time."
