I Almost Lost You

Chapter 5

"The names Ashton. Ashton Irwin."

Mmm...what a lovely name.

"Well it's a pleasure to meet you Ashton." I smiled

"As well as you my dear." He smiled back.

"Why are you going to Australia?" He asked me.

"I'm moving. I wanted to leave and get away from America. I needed more inspiration for my writing too." I stated

"That's amazing! I live in Australia! I'm going home today. Where is your new home?" He asked.

"It's in Marrickville." I replied checking my phone.

"Thats where I am!" He said smiling. His dimples were so freaking adorable! I smiled in response.

I checked my phone, it was 8:37. We wouldn't be boarding for like another 15 minutes.

"I'm gonna go to Starbucks, do you want anything? It's my treat!" He asked standing up.

"Ummm, I'll have a tall Very Berry Hibiscus please?" I asked

"Sure! I'll be right back, save my seat." He said as he walked away.

I sat there watching the planes land and take off. Most planes were landing. Only international flights fly late.

"Boo!"

I jumped and caught my breath.

"Jesus Christ! You scared me." I said laughing

"That was the point." He said smiling.

He handed me my drink and I thanked him.

"Have they called our thing yet?" He asked.

"No." I checked the time. "We should be boarding in about 5 minutes though."

"Okay!" He said excited.

I wanted to sit next to him on the plane, he seemed really cool. Good thing the flight doesn't have arranged seating. We would get to sit next to each other.

We grabbed our bags and made it towards the gate door. We stood in line behind about a dozen people. The plane could hold like 200 people and only like 30 people were going on it.

As we walked to the counter we took out our boarding passes. When we got to the counter we scanned them through and walked into the jetway.

Once we got on the plane we were so relieved. We took up a row to ourselves in the back. We wanted to be alone and away from people, just so we could talk and not get looks if we got to loud. (It's not what you think, dirty minded people... ;))

*Beep* "Attention passengers, this is your captain speaking, this is a nonstop flight to Sydney, Australia. We will be taking off soon. Please sit and relax. Thank you for choosing Virgin International Airways." The captain said over the intercom.

"Are you excited?" I asked Ashton.

"Yes! I'm even more excited that I'm not alone and I have someone to talk too!" he replied smiling.

"So am I! I thought earlier that I wouldn't be able to make it 22 hours in a crowded airplane, with nothing to do." I groaned

"Well now we have each other to keep sane!" He said. I laughed and leaned back. The seats reclined pretty far. Ashton copied me.

About 10 minutes after just sitting on the runway, we were clear for take off. As the engine started and we moved forward, I closed my eyes. I hated flying. I felt a hand grab my hand. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding in.

"Sorry...I hate flying." I said quietly.

I felt the front of the plane lift off, with the rest following. We were up. I was probably squeezing the crap out if his hand.

"Sorry! Am I hurting you?" I said worried.

"No! Not at all! He said laughing.

Ughh. I felt the plane level out and became stable. I let go of my death grip on Ashton. I finally breathed.

"Hahaha, you're adorable." He said poking my cheek.

I blushed at his words.

"Someone is blushing!" He said holding my cheeks.

"Oh god..." I said covering my face. I tried to stop it, but that just made me blush more.

"Haha don't worry love, I'm just teasing." He said giving me a playful nudge.

"You sure are a tease..." I said almost inaudible.

"Yes. Yes I am." I heard him say. I gasped and we both started laughing.
