Yay! Finally all typed up and ready for you to read! I really hope you enjoy this chapter.  I put quote a lot of effort into it.  I think it's a little bit longer than usual.  It should be. Anyways, I apologize for not uploading sooner but I had homework on Wednesday and besides, I wasn't quite done writing this chapter.  The next chapter is probably going to be quite a bit shorter than usual, but hey- a chapter is a chapter.  Votes and comments are much appreciated.  I really like  hearing your feedback.  Constructive criticism is nice as well as long as you aren't being a jerk about it.  Feel free to point out any mistakes.  Happy reading!

Eliza and I had stayed up late last night talking.  Eventually we must have both fallen asleep, because I awoke on Eliza's couch.  Eliza lay hunched over in an armchair and I nudged her with my foot to wake her.  She blinked her eyes and stretched with a yawn.

"We going to dance today?" I asked, my voice scratchy from lack of use while I slept.  Eliza nodded sleepily.

"I'm going to take a bath.  Go in your room and take one too, stinky," she teased me, a sluggish smile on her face.  I laughed and threw a pillow at her.  She got up and disappeared into an adjoining room, so I let myself into the hall and bumped right into Christopher!

"What are you doing here!" I shouted, scowling at him.  He stared at the floor nervously, flapping his wings absentmindedly.

"I came to see Eliza..." he mumbled, shoving his hands into his pockets.

"Well I suggest you just bugger off and leave her alone.  You really hurt her," I said quietly so Eliza wouldn't hear from inside her room.

"You don't understand!" Christopher exclaimed, flailing his arms.  "I was breaking up with Samantha! After I saw her yesterday, I realized I still love her, and now after reading her note, I've realized she still loves me as well.  Coming here was the only thing that made sense!"

"If you were breaking up with Samantha, then why were you kissing her?" I asked, crossing my arms over my chest and staring his down.  He squirmed under the pressure.

"I don't know! I'm a guy!" he defended himself.  I snorted disdainfully.

"Well I'm not telling her you're here, and if you so much as tap your fingers against this wall, I will have a couple of guards clip your wings and throw you out of this tree.  Got it?" I hissed menacingly. He gulped and nodded once before slinking back down the corridor I assumed he'd come from.  Good riddance.

It took me just under a half hour to get ready.  Once I was finished, I smelled like jasmine and had the appearance of an enchanted leaf.  At least, that was my opinion of the army green dress with a gold pattern stitched into it.  Luara had specifically told me that this dress was for the first dance on the last day.  It was too late for breakfast, so I didn't bother picking out a dress for the morning meal.

It was strange that Laura had made certain dresses for only a handful of things, but as long as I never wore the same dress twice, apparently I could wear whatever suited my fancy.

Since I figured Eliza was still getting ready, I wrote her a note and stuck it to my door with a piece of puddy.  I decided I would go see Esther.  Finally, I was beginning to learn my way around the place. Very few people lingered about the halls, but every time I passed someone, they would stop what they were doing and curtsy.  I'd give them a polite smile and a nod in return, as Eliza's mother had instructed me.
