"Casey. Table 15 is ready for you." Sophie tells me before heading out of the counter to her table.

I hate this job. I just started a week ago and I hate it already. But I have to push through it and earn money.

I reluctantly get out of the counter and walk to table 15. I reach for my pen and notepad to take their orders and stop in front of their table with a forced smile.

I look up to see who I'm serving today. "What can I get you-"

My eyes land on his and I froze. My smile quickly fade. He looks surprised to see me there.

"Hey babe." The girl by his side call him, snapping me back to reality. I tear away from his eyes only to be met with Alec's.

They're still hanging out. I'm glad Kaden forgave Alec. He didn't do anything wrong.

I avoid his gaze and look to the girl at the corner sitting next to Alec, quickly putting on a smile for them.

"What can I get you?" I ask her. I've never seen these girls before. Maybe they go to a different school.

I watch her look down at the menu, contemplating what to eat.

"Can I get...a cheese burger with fries and a strawberry shake." She tells me. I quickly write down her order, then look to Alec.

He sends me a quick smile before ordering, "I'll  get a cheese burger and a vanilla shake. Thank you." I send him a polite smile and write down his order before continuing on to the girl clinging onto Kaden's arms.

"I'll get a classic burger and vanilla shake." I watch as she turns to Kaden with a smile.

"Wanna share a banana split sundae?" She asks Kaden. I glance at him to see him staring at me. I avoid his gaze and turn my attention back to the girl next to him.

I can feel his eyes on me and I hate it.

"Just get whatever you want," he answer with a rude tone. She frown at him before turning back to me with a smile.

She seems nice. Why is he so rude?

"And a banana split sundae, please. Thank you." She finish her order while I quickly scribble it down.

And now, the moment I've been fretting: talking to Kaden. I haven't talked to him for a few weeks now. And whenever I see him in the hallway or in class, I would try my best to avoid him and sit as far away from him as possible.

It's inevitable. Sooner or later, we both have to start talking to each other. Better it be now.

I finally look up from my notepad with a smile and face him.

"What can I get you?" I ask him, treating him like every other customer. Because that's all he is to me now - another customer.

He continues to stare at me in silent and it's making me really uncomfortable. After a moment of silent, he finally speak up. "What do you recommend?"

I mentally roll my eyes at him. Why can't he just order something. I don't want to be here any longer than I have to.

"I recommend their beef nacho. It's really good. If not, you can get their pull pork burger. They also have fried hot wings. It's one of their best dish." I answer politely, hoping he'll order something quick so I can leave.

He takes his arm out of the girl's hold and lean in, crossing his arms into the table.

"And what about their desserts? Anything good?" He asks.
